C1010 PARTITIONS

All exposed metal connectors and fasteners for exterior, non-conditioned masonry work shall be epoxy paint protected ASTM A316L stainless steel. A316L stainless steel is available at a lower yield strength than A992 steel and its weldability can sometimes be an issue if not done properly per specific welding requirements for that particular material. All metal connectors and fasteners for interior masonry shall be hot-dipped galvanized.

Masonry interior walls in non-conditioned interior spaces and exterior screen walls shall be reinforced, fully grouted and shall have a protective silicone enhanced EFS or similar coating to protect reinforcement and metal connections from corrosion that may be caused by wind driven rains and the corrosive marine environment.

Only Type II and I/II cement meeting ASTM C150 Type II criteria is allowed.

All interior partitions shall be concrete masonry, cast-in-place concrete, pre-cast concrete or metal studs with paperless gypsum board each side.

All metal stud partitions adjacent to any space where moisture may be present (shower, toilet, janitor's room/closet, food preparation areas, laundry rooms, etc.) shall be installed on a 4 inch (100 mm) minimum high concrete curb. All gypsum board shall be paperless (no cellulose material) gypsum board. Paperless gypsum wallboard shall be 5/8-inch (16 mm) minimum glass mat (both sides) wallboard. Light gage interior metal framing shall be G90. Metal studs shall be cold-formed with a minimum coating of Z275 G90 and use ceramic-coated screws. Apply sealer over all screw heads.

The ceramic screws consist of zinc coated steel screws that are entirely coated (head, shank, and threads) with ceramic. The bottom metal floor track shall have a continuous foam strip made for separating the bottom track from the concrete floor slab. Metal partition floor tracks shall be vacuumed to remove all debris and sprayed with a mold resistant coating sealer to help control mold just before closing with paperless gypsum wallboard. Provide a 1/2-inch (14 mm) gap from the top of finish flooring to the bottom of the wallboard to prevent water from wicking up the wallboard. Provide a one-hour rated partitions where required. All paperless gypsum board wall partitions shall be finished to Level 4 in accordance with Gypsum Association GA 214. All interior wall corners and jambs shall receive bullnose finish.

Exterior shell furring framing for insulation shall be spaced with non-continuous clips from the exterior walls or roof.

The dividing wall between a space with large exterior doors or openings (such as Garages, Loading & Storage areas) and the interior of the unit or facility shall be designed to meet the minimum design loads indicated in the latest edition(s) of ASCE 7 and the IBC with due consideration for topographic and geographic features that may amplify wind loads by applying the appropriate Kzt topographic factor and using the appropriate exposure category in the event the door fails during a typhoon.

C101002 DEMOUNTABLE PARTITIONS

Demountable partitions include sound rated, full height (floor to ceiling) solid partitions. Sound-rated partition assemblies shall have a minimum Sound Transmission Coefficient (STC) of 42 in accordance with ASTM E 90 or ASTM E 413 for frequency data. Demountable partitions be funded as part of FF&E.
