About this file

This is a technical specification section for aluminum doors and frames for the P-995 Composite Repair Facility at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, dated December 24, 2025, with Amendment 002 effective April 9, 2026.

The specification establishes performance and design requirements for swing-type aluminum doors and frames. Materials must comply with ASTM standards, specifically ASTM B221/B221M (Alloy 6063-T5 extrusions) and ASTM B209/B209M for sheets and strips, with a minimum of 30 percent recycled content. Doors must be a minimum 1-3/4 inches thick with 0.125-inch wall thickness. Performance requirements include impact-resistant assemblies meeting ASTM E1996 and ASTM E1886 standards for windborne debris resistance (missiles A and D); air infiltration not exceeding 0.6 cubic feet per minute per square foot at 6.24 PSF per ASTM E283; zero water penetration at 2.86 PSF per ASTM E331; and thermal performance with U-factor of 0.57 or less, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of 0.39 or less, and Visible Light Transmittance of 43 percent or greater, all certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council per NFRC 100 and NFRC 200 standards. Aluminum extrusions must receive anodized treatment conforming to AAMA 611 (Class I coating, 0.7 mil thickness) with clear anodize finish. The specification includes detailed fabrication requirements for frames, doors, welding, weatherstripping, anchoring, hardware provisions, and glazing, along with installation, sealing, and protection requirements against dissimilar materials. The hardware schedule specifies two door configurations: an exterior entrance pair (Door 101A) with heavy-duty roton hinges, concealed deadlocks, auto-release flushbolts, closers, and access control integration; and an interior foyer air lock pair (Door 101B) with similar hardware components. Government approval is required for all shop drawings, product data, delegated design submissions, test reports, NFRC certificates, and manufacturer instructions.
