Refrigerant flow control devices shall be an adjustable superheat thermostatic expansion valve with external equalizer matched to coil, capillary or thermostatic control, and a pilot solenoid controlled, leak-tight, four-way refrigerant flow reversing valve. A refrigerant suction line thermostatic control shall be provided to prevent freeze-up in event of loss of water flow during heating cycle.

2.4 AIR HANDLING UNITS

With sound rating in accordance with DPCM 1/3/91 when tested per UNI 8199.

Single-zone type, static pressure as indicated. Include all the sections shown on the contract drawings. Filters, housing coils, and drip pans must be completely removable from the unit without having to dismantle the unit or adjacent equipment. Unit Eurovent certified EN1886 and EN 13053. Erp 2018 is required. Thermal transmittance max. T2. Mechanical resistance min. D1

2.4.1 Casings

Construct casings of steel, galvanized steel, or aluminum on channel base and drain pan coated externally with manufacturers standard paint finish.

Provide removable panels and access doors for inspection and access to internal parts. Insulate casings with manufacturer's standard materials..

Casing insulation thickness and finishing shall be suitable for outdoor installation. Thermal cut is required. Air tight L2 class (Eurovent) is required. Gasket L1 (tixotropic type)

2.4.2 Damper Section

Provide with factory mounted dampers of galvanized steel blades, with vinyl bulb edging and edge seals in galvanized frame, in opposed blade arrangement with non-slip keyed connecting rods and linkages. Permanently secure damper blades on a single shaft with self-lubricating bearings. Position damper blades across short air opening dimension. Maximum leakage is 2 percent at

1000 Pa differential pressure when sized for 10 m/s face velocity.

2.4.3 Fan Section (Supply and Return/Exhaust)

2.4.3.1 Double Width Double Inlet (DWDI), Plug Type (Plenum) Supply Fans

a. All air handling units fan sections shall be provided with two-motors arrangement (one in supply and one in return/exhaust). Fans shall deliver performance specified in the air handling unit schedule and shall be UNI EN

ISO 5801 DWDI. Fan wheels shall operate to pressurize an acoustical plenum to provide uniform discharge velocity profiles and to allow even face velocities across and through the cooling coil. At rated capacity, the unit shall not exceed sound power levels indicated in UNI 8199.

b. Fan wheel diameters shall be in accordance with the standard sizes adopted for non-overloading fans. Inlets shall be fully streamlined. Blades shall be welded to backplate and welded to wheel cone. Wheels shall be

FINAL (100% design) SECTION 15720/R Page 157 statically balanced prior to assembly and dynamically balanced as an assembly at the factory at design RPM prior to shipment. Backward inclined air foil blade wheel diameters shall be in accordance with the standard sizes adopted for non-overloading fans. Inlets shall be fully streamlined. Blades shall be welded to back plate and welded to wheel cone. Wheels shall be statically balanced prior to assembly and dynamically balanced as an assembly at the factory at design RPM prior to shipment. Fans shall be balanced at design

RPM to a total displacement of less than 0.025 mm, measured at each bearing pad prior to shipment with belts and drives in place.

c. Fan shafts shall be solid steel machined to standard diameters and tolerances for turned, ground and polished shafts. Center at one end of shaft for tachometer reading. Fan shaft shall be designed to be a minimum of 29 percent below critical speed at design RPM. Fan wheels and drive sheaves shall be key-seated to fan shaft.

d. Fan bearings shall be of spherical roller type mounted in self-alignment split pillow blocks and pre-lubricated. Lube line shall be extended to drive side of unit near access door. Positive locking to shaft shall be provided by means of a tapered adapter, lock nut and lockwasher. Bearings shall be installed to close tolerances at the factory and shall require no field adjustments.

e. All bushings, sheaves and equipment necessary for fans to achieve design performance shall be factory selected and installed. All drives shall be sized for a service factor of 1.5 (minimum) times the fan motor horsepower.

f. The fan assembly, complete with motor, shall be mounted on a heavy steel base. Open spring type vibration isolators (5 mm deflection) shall be provided which support the fan assembly and isolate all rotating parts. All spring isolators shall be capable of 30 percent over travel before becoming solid and shall be designed stable for a minimum KX/KY (horizontal to vertical spring rate) of 1.0.

g. Plug fan modules shall be provided with an expanded metal door guard to prevent unauthorized entry to the fan module.

2.4.4 Vibration Isolation

For the entire fan, motor, and drive assembly, provide 50 mm nominal deflection spring vibration isolators, internally mounted at the factory together with fan discharge flexible connection and thrust restraint springs.

As an alternate, vibration isolation may be provided external to air handlers.

When alternate is chosen, provide 50 mm nominal deflection springs, pipe and duct flexible connections, thrust restraint springs, and spring type pipe hangers on pipes directly-connected to such air handlers.

2.4.5 Filter Sections

Protect permanent holding frames with rust inhibitor coating. Provide visible identification on media frames showing model number and air-flow direction. Provide means of sealing to prevent bypass of unfiltered air.

Except extended media with self-supporting cartridge and high efficiency particulate filters, performance shall be determined in accordance with UNI

EN 779. Provide inclined type manometers for filter and filters furnished as integral parts of air-handling units. Equip with over-pressure safety traps and three-way vent valves. G4+F9 is required.

2.4.5.1 Extended Media Air Filters

UNI EN 779, factory assembled. The filters shall be of the type that do not contribute fuel when attacked by flame and emite only negligible amount of smoke. Provide cleanable type prefilters and bag type after-filter.

Efficiency as shown on contract drawings.

2.4.5.2 Filter Housing

Minimum thickness, 15/10 mm steel with baked finish inside and out. Joints shall be continuously welded. Flange shall have a fixed air sealing gasket with hollow cross section, closed cell rubber or resilient neoprene, suitable for repetitive reuse. Cabinets shall have flanged ends for connection to adjacent ducts. Hinged access doors on both cabinet sides. Provide access doors with fixed air sealing gaskets to be airtight at the static pressure expected in service. Provide two 10 mm flare connection test ports complete with seal cap, one on each side of the filter. Weld test ports into each filter cabinet or plenum. Test port shall not penetrate to filter frame or media.

2.4.6 Coil

Provide removable coils per with access from one side. Enclose heating and cooling coils in a common or individual casing with headers and return bends fully contained within casing. Coils shall be of copper tubes with galvanized steel and polypropylene fins mechanically bonded. Cooling coils shall have drain pans with threaded piping connections to remove condensate. Drain pans shall be insulated adequately with water impervious insulation to prevent condensation on its surface. Seal coils to casing to prevent leakage of air around coil. Provide chilled water cooling coils and hot water cooling coils.

2.4.6.1 Drip Pans

Provide each coil section in both field-and-factory assembled casings with a stainless drip pan not less than 10/10 mm with drain connections. Drip pans shall collect, confine, and dispose of all condensate from cooling coils and attachments, including headers, return bends, distributors, and non-insulated pipe and fittings. Where individual eliminator blades are in section (not in one piece from top to bottom of coil bank), provide auxiliary drip troughs at bottom of each section with drains to drip pans. Insulate drip pans with water impervious insulation of sufficient thickness to prevent condensate formation on the exterior at ambient conditions to be encountered.

2.4.7 Heat Recovery Section

Heat recovery section shall be wheel type, equipped and sized for a minimum efficiency in accordance with Erp 2018.

Provide unit that is a factory fabricated and tested assembly for air-to-air energy recovery by transfer of sensible heat from exhaust air to supply air stream, with device performance according to Erp 2018 and that delivers an energy transfer effectiveness of not less than value indicated on the drawings with cross-contamination not in excess of 1 percent of exhaust airflow rate at system design differential pressure, including purging sector if provided with wheel. Provide exchange media that is chemically inert, moisture-resistant, fire-retardant, laminated, nonmetallic material which complies with NFPA 90A. Isolate exhaust and supply streams by seals which are static, field adjustable, and replaceable. Equip chain drive mechanisms with ratcheting torque limiter or slip-clutch protective device. Fabricate enclosure from galvanized steel and include provisions for maintenance access. Provide recovery control and rotation failure provisions as indicated. Drain pain in stainless steel AISI 304. Inverter motor is required.

2.4.8 Controls

The unit shall be equipped in fiedl with a direct digital controller compatible with the building DDC system and able to implement all the indicated sequences in accordance with Section 23 09 23.02, "BACNET DIRECT

DIGITAL CONTROL FOR HVAC AND OTHER BUILDING CONTROL SYSTEMS" and as shown on contract drawings control schematics. The unit shall be complete with probes, transmitters, control valves, actuators, fully wired and ready to operate in conformance with the above mentioned specifications.

2.4.9 Electrical components

The unit shall be provided with an electrical power panel having a protection degree IP44 minimum in accordance with IEC 60529and in any case not less than what required by the installation ambient, complete of carpentry, double closing door, thermal and magnetic general breaker, pilot lights, amperemeter and voltmeter, magnetothermal breaker for each power component supplied, thermal relais setted for each served motor, contactors and starters as required, variable frequency starters and controllers as required for the fans indicated in the schematics of controls. The System shall be fully wired and ready to operate in accordance with the requirements of electrical division.

Provide flow rate regulator module operates by means of a sliding plate, asymmetrical and angled, which guarantees a sensitive response even with low flow values. The regulator reliably operates from a minimal difference

Galvanized steel body. The control plate is supported by two sliding and maintenance-free PTFE bearings. The two pneumatic dampers prevent vibrations and oscillations from the control plate and ensure responsive response and control accuracy. Device with external scale to set the airflow. Ensure properly volume scale with the airflow design.

2.13 FAN COIL UNIT

Provide fan coil with compact dimensions, suitable for recessed installation

(can be ducted), roof installation or floor basement installation. The fan coil will be equipped with inverter motor for continuous air flow modulation by signal 0-10 V.

2.13.1 Generalities

Fan coil realized with support structure in galvanized steel. It has holes in the rear part of the appliance for wall mounting, a condensate drip tray.

Protective cabinet realized in sheet steel with anti-corrosion treatment and successively painted. Without protective cover for recessed unit (can be duct). For the fan coil installed on floor or wall provide a white plastic casing, complete with the diffuser grille.

2.13.3 Fan unit

Centrifugal ABS centrifugal fans with double wing suction blades developed in length to achieve high flow rates at low revs.

Brushless electric motor with Hall probes for continuous variable speed (0-

100%) and directly coupled to fans and cushioned with elastic supports.

Extractable and inspecting screw in low-noise plastic material.

2.13.4 Filtering section

Removable filter made from regenerable materials and which can be washed.

Filtration class G2.

2.13.5 Coil type

Two coils: fan-coil is equipped with a three-rows main battery with copper tubes and aluminum fins and secondary battery with one-row or two-rows with copper tubes and flaps in aluminum; the manifolds are fitted with female plugs and air vent located at the top. Both batteries must be fitted with a valve.

2.13.6 Condensate drip tray

There are two condensate drip trays: one for vertical installation and one for horizontal installation. Both basins are thermally insulated and have double drainage to the right and to the left. The unused drain must be sealed.

Rigid steel conduit CEI EN 61386-1 (CEI 23-80), CEI EN 61386-21 (CEI 23-
