About this file
This is a technical specification document for bridge crane electrical components replacement at the Folsom Warehouse as part of Amendment No. 0004 to Solicitation No. 140R2026R0017 for the American River Division, Central Valley Project, California.
The specification requires the contractor to furnish, install, and test a new crane electrical system for a 30-ton bridge crane, with payment via lump sum price. Key electrical components include Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) specified as Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 755 model or equal, rated 480 volts 3-phase 60 Hz, with comprehensive motor control capabilities including closed-loop flux vector control for hoist operations and open/closed-loop control for bridge and trolley travel. The system must provide multi-speed control with dynamic braking, anti-collision functionality, anti-skewing systems using laser sensors conforming to IEC 60825-1, and "No Fly Zone" obstacle avoidance features. Control enclosures must be NEMA Type 12 rated with individual panels for each motion type (hoist, bridge, trolley), incorporating emergency stop functionality, indicating lights, warning horns, and strobe beacons. The 480-volt power supply requires a 4-bar conductor rail runway electrification system compliant with CMAA 70, fused disconnect switches with 600-volt current-limiting fuses, and low-voltage transformers providing 120-volt AC control power. All equipment must comply with NFPA 70, ASME B30.2-2022, CMAA 70-2020, NEMA standards, IEEE standards, and UL listings. The contractor must provide detailed submittals including approval drawings, installation plans, harmonic analysis studies, Factory Acceptance Testing per ISA 62381, seismic certification for all VFD assemblies, comprehensive spare parts, and five-year manufacturer warranty on VFDs. Installation requires proper bonding, grounding per NFPA 70, compliance with OSHA regulations, and operation within ambient temperatures ranging from 20 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit at approximately 500 feet elevation.
