About this file
This document provides details on authorized field repairs for the Stryker vehicle program. It outlines 14 common damage types and repairs that field welders are authorized to perform without engineering support, including replacing appurtenances, differential mounts, steering components, repairing cracks and gouges. Repairs must be documented on a Field Structural Repair Record and submitted to the program manager.
The related opportunity notice indicates the US Army intends to issue a sole source RFP for a 5-year requirements contract for Stryker vehicle retrofit, reset/refurbishment, and damage repair services. Proposed quotes are due by September 30, 2018. The requirement is reserved for incumbent contractor General Dynamics Land Systems.

| Weld Cover Gouge(s) / Dent(s) |
Gouge(s):
Gouges in weld covers may be repaired. A gouge is identified as a blunt groove or surface cavity resulting from material excavation. Weld cover gouges which are allowed to be repaired under this FSRR authority shall be:
A – Gouges 1/8” (3mm) deep up to ¼” (6mm) are to be filled with weld and ground smooth. Gouges with a depth less than 1/8” (3mm) need not be welded and shall be feathered out/ground smooth. Gouges over ¼” (6mm) are not authorized for repair.
Any sharp edges shall be ground smooth.
B – Gouge is confined within weld cover and does not extend into the hull plates.
C – There is no crack associated with the gouge.
D – Gouge area is less than 8 sq inches (5000 sq mm).
Dent(s):
Dents in weld covers, rear floor, LH and RH Sponson, driver’s floor, and engine floor need not be repaired. A dent is identified as a localized deformation of material which violates design profile and does not leave sharp edges.
