About this file
This document provides visual acceptance criteria for Stryker BCT Level A integral armour modules that have experienced damage. It defines three types of damage - light cosmetic, light structural, and heavy structural. Light cosmetic damage involves worn paint and light scuffs that are acceptable to use as-is for battle damage repair and reset. Light structural damage involves tears in the first ballistic fabric layer up to 12 square inches that are acceptable to use as-is for battle damage repair if no spares are available, but should be repaired as soon as possible. Heavy structural damage involves damage to ceramic elements, field repairs, or fabric tears over 12 square inches, and modules with this level of damage must be discarded. Accompanying exhibits provide visual examples to aid in determining damage levels.
The related federal contract opportunity notice indicates the US Army Contracting Command plans to issue a sole source RFP for a 5-year requirements contract to General Dynamics Land Systems for Stryker vehicle retrofit, reset/refurbishment, and damage repair services. The forecasted quote due date is September 30, 2018. The requirement is source controlled to General Dynamics Land Systems.

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA - BATTLE DAMAGE I RESET VEHICLES ONLY
| 6.0 | DESCRIPTION: |
| 6.1 | As a general rule if inspected armour module(s) exhibits multiple hits/cuts in |
outer covering from shrapnel damage, they should be immediately rejected. This should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for size and quantity of hits per module size to determine disposition.
6.2 This document will distinguish between 3 types of service damage encountered on composite armour modules:
1. light Cosmetic: The paint is worn off with or without light scuffs on the ballistic fabric, but there are no tears or pieces missing in the first ballistic fabric layer. Disposition should be use as is for battle damage repair (serviceable), and re-paint on reset.
2. light Structural: Tears in the first ballistic fabric layers not exceeding 12 square inches of total area, and where maximum exposed ceramic surface does not exceed 3.5"X3.5" in at any point. Ceramic element can be visible but must be undamaged. The disposition should be use as is for battle damage repair if no spares are available and vehicle is urgently needed (module is serviceable in a ballistic sense but has limited resistance to the elements and will degrade much faster than a new or repaired module.) The modules should be returned to the armour supplier and repaired per contract approved procedure with steel epoxy and repainted as soon as possible.
3 . Heavy Structural: Damage to the ceramic elements (gouges/chips) or field repair of any kind (per 6.3). Tears in the fabric layer exceeding 12 square inches in area or with openings showing ceramic tile larger than 3.5"X3.5". These modules should be discarded.
6.3 If the inspected armour module demonstrates any evidence of a previous field applied patch repair such as :
| • | Putties |
| • | Adhesives |
| • | Fillers |
The damage is considered heavy structural damage, and the disposition must be
UNACCEPTABLE (DISCARD).
6.4 If there is any doubt of a module condition of acceptability after review of the damage using the enclosed inspection criteria, then the disposition must be
UNACCEPTABLE (DISCARD).
6.5 Notify reset quality assurance for additional guidelines or final disposition of suspect module(s).
