About this file
This document is a technical specification section (Section 61) from a transportation infrastructure project, specifically addressing pavement marking removal for thermoplastic markings. The specification outlines detailed requirements for removing existing pavement markings, with strict instructions that painting over markings is not permitted. The removal must be performed using methods approved by the Project Engineer that do not damage the pavement surface.
The contract provides a payment structure based on square footage for removing lines, stripes, messages, and symbols, with the specific pay item designated as "Remove Existing Pavement Marking/Thermoplastic" under Item No. A711-7. While this document is part of a broader project related to the Grant Funded Construction of Rummell Road Trail in St. Cloud, Florida, which involves constructing an 8-foot wide asphalt trail approximately 6,400 linear feet long and a 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk about 1,125 linear feet in length, the specific section focuses solely on the technical requirements for pavement marking removal. The project is partially funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Recreational Trails Program (RTP).
