About this file
This document is a technical specification section (Section 31) for site preparation, surface removal, and restoration, associated with a municipal construction project in St. Cloud, Florida. The specification outlines detailed requirements for contractors performing site clearing, grubbing, stripping, and restoration work, with specific guidelines for handling vegetation removal, surface preparation, dust control, and post-construction site restoration. The document provides comprehensive instructions for managing construction site surfaces, including procedures for removing timber, brush, stumps, roots, and other ground obstructions while preserving existing structures and ensuring proper ground preparation.
The specification is directly linked to a grant-funded construction project for the Rummell Road Trail, which involves constructing an 8-foot wide asphalt trail approximately 6,400 linear feet long and a 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk approximately 1,125 linear feet in length. The project is partially funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and includes comprehensive site work such as clearing, demolition, utility relocation, stormwater infrastructure installation, driveway and sidewalk construction, and trail head park development. The contractor is required to follow strict restoration guidelines, including repairing surfaces within specified timeframes, maintaining proper drainage, and restoring all disturbed areas to their original or improved condition under the supervision of the project engineer.
