About this file

This document is a detailed Section 58 Highway Signing specification from a transportation agency, likely the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), outlining comprehensive requirements for highway sign installation and related infrastructure. The specification covers the procurement, fabrication, and installation of roadside and overhead traffic signs, including single post, multi-post, truss, cantilever, and bridge-mounted configurations. The document provides extensive guidelines for sign panel materials (aluminum or galvanized steel), support structures, erection methods, and specific measurement and payment protocols for various sign assembly types and sizes.

The pricing and payment structure is meticulously detailed, with multiple pay item categories based on sign type, size, and configuration, ranging from small single-post signs to large overhead truss and cantilever signs. Payment items include provisions for new sign installations, existing sign modifications, removals, relocations, and electrically powered signs with various illumination technologies. The specification includes unit pricing strategies that account for sign panel square footage, structure length, and specific installation requirements, with full compensation covering labor, equipment, materials, sign panels, supports, footings, and for lighted signs, electrical installation costs up to connection points.
