2. A Special Agreement SAC form is required for every contract employee. See the SPECIAL NOTES specification for an example of this SAC form. Officer, use only established roads, corridors, the existing loading dock and the service elevators as authorized by the COR. When materials are transported or delivered in prosecuting the work, vehicles shall not be loaded beyond the loading capacity recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle or prescribed by any Federal, State, or local law or regulation. 1. In accordance with the drawings, submit the Phasing Plan meeting requirements as listed below and in accordance with Specification 01
33 23 SHOP DRAWINGS, PRODUCT DATA AND SAMPLES within 60 calendar days of the Notice to Proceed meeting.
2. The Medical Center must maintain its operation 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Therefore, any interruption in service must be scheduled and coordinated with the COR to ensure that no lapses in operation occur. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to develop a work plan and schedule detailing, at a minimum, the procedures to be employed, the equipment and materials to be used, the interim life safety measure to be used during the work defining the duration of the work with milestone subtasks. Refer to Specification 01 32 16.15 for schedule requirements.
3. To ensure such executions, Contractor shall furnish the COR with a schedule of approximate phasing dates on which the Contractor intends to accomplish work in each specific area of site, building or portion thereof. In addition, Contractor shall notify the COR
01 00 00 - 5 two weeks in advance of the proposed date of starting work in each specific area of site, building or portion thereof. Arrange such phasing dates to ensure accomplishment of this work in successive phases mutually agreeable to COR and Contractor, generally as follows:
Phase I Pre-Construction Submittals (Periods 1/2/3 from SOW)
Phase II Mobilization; Demo in 7B and Common Corridor
Phase III 7AN IC/CN Barriers*, General Demo 7AN, Abatement
Phase IIIa Coordinated plumbing demo/relocations & HVAC piping demo
Phase IIIb Floor leveling 7AN
Phase IV 7AN New Construction
Phase IVb 7B and Common Corridor off-shift finishes
Phase V Finishes, Punchlist, Closeout, Acceptance, Commissioning
* Coordinate IC/CN barriers with existing 7AS Contract barriers
H. Building 111, 7AN is a vacated ward. Note that 7AS will be under construction at the time of contract award of the 7AN project. The 7AS
(Dialysis) and 7AN (Endoscopy) projects share construction barriers and most likely will share the infection control and construction barrier entrance. The space will be available to the Contractor immediately after issuance of the Notice to Proceed (for pre-construction survey and for the preparation of other pre-construction submittals). Upon approval of all required pre-construction submittals, 7AN will be turned over to Contractor for mobilization and work (Phase II).
1. Contractor shall take all measures and provide all material necessary for protecting existing equipment and property in affected areas of construction against dust and debris, so that Medical
Center operations will not be hindered. Contractor shall be aware that while 7AN will be turned over entirely, there are parts of the building in which he shall permit access to Department of Veterans
Affairs personnel, visitors and patients (7B corridors, B-bank elevators, basement corridor to loading dock/dumpster). Coordinate protection means and alteration work in areas so that Medical Center operations will continue without impact to staff, visitors and patients during the construction period.
2. Contractor shall also note that coordination with neighboring 7AS/
Dialysis construction projects will be required.
I. When 7AN is turned over to Contractor, Contractor shall accept entire responsibility including upkeep and maintenance, specifically:
1. Contractor shall maintain a minimum temperature of 40°F.
Construction during winter months may require temporary hydronic heating (equipment shall be supplied by the mechanical Contractor;
VA will supply heating hot water at no cost).
2. Contractor will be allowed to demo and remove fire suppression system in 7AN (sprinklers, detection and alarm equipment) prior to
01 00 00 - 6 general demolition. However, Contractor shall install and maintain a temporary heat detection and alarm system, tied into the Building
111 Fire Alarm system at Graphics (Building 113). It shall be tested monthly with reports to the COR.
J. Abandoned Lines: All service lines such as wires, cables, conduits, ducts, pipes and the like, and their hangers or supports, which are to be abandoned but are not required to be entirely removed, shall be sealed, capped or plugged at the main, branch or panel they originate from. The lines shall not be capped in finished areas, but shall be removed and sealed, capped or plugged in ceilings, within furred spaces, in unfinished areas, or within walls or partitions; so that they are completely behind the finished surfaces.
K. Existing Conditions: Upon completion of demo/abatement activities, there may be existing MEP infrastructure in the ceiling to remain
(conduit or piping supporting the 8th floor or 7B for example). The
Contractor shall be responsible for supporting and anchoring this infrastructure (that will remain) to meet current code requirements.
