About this file
This is a technical specification drawing (DWG NO. 07) for hot stack penetration installation in built-up roofing systems. The document provides detailed construction standards for integrating hot pipe penetrations through insulated roof assemblies, specifying materials, clearances, and installation methods to ensure proper sealing and thermal management at temperature extremes.
The specification requires priming all metal surfaces prior to adhesive application and mandates welding or soldering of rain collars to pipes when service temperatures exceed 400 degrees Fahrenheit, rather than relying on sealant alone. The assembly includes a sheet-metal sleeve, high-temperature sealant, stainless steel rain collar, clamping ring, treated wood blocking, and a two-ply stripping system set in asphalt cement with mechanical fastening at 3-inch on-center intervals. The flange requires a minimum 4-inch overlap with asphalt cement and mechanical fastening, while the insulation perimeter receives mastic seal application at existing insulated metal liners. Critical clearance between the hot pipe and insulated metal liner must be determined based on the specific temperature of materials handled by the stack. The document indicates this is a standard detail drawing with a "not to scale" (NTS) designation created in 2023 using AutoCAD.

NOTES
1. PRIME ALL METAL SURFACES THAT WILL COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE SPECIFIED ADHESIVE.
2. WHEN HOT STACK SERVICE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 400 DEGREES, WELD OR SOLDER RAIN COLLAR TO
PIPE IN LIEU OF INSTALLING SEALANT.
3. THE CLEARANCE REQUIRED BETWEEN THE HOT PIPE AND INSULATED METAL LINER WILL DEPEND ON THE
TEMPERATURE OF THE MATERIAL HANDLED BY THE STACK.
