About this file
This is a testing report prepared for Brevard County's Sykes Creek Permitting and Dredging Engineering Project, documenting sediment core sampling and laboratory analysis conducted by Universal Engineering Sciences, Inc. and ALS Group USA, Corp. The report presents comprehensive geotechnical and sediment chemistry data from thirty cores (A through DD) collected at various locations within the project area, with results reviewed by Bob DiRienzo and prepared by Mitch Doll under Project No. C2014-068.
The testing report includes grain size distribution analysis, moisture content measurements, organic content percentages, and detailed inorganic parameter concentrations for barium, chromium, lead, mercury, selenium, cadmium, arsenic, and silver. Results are compared against Florida's soil cleanup target levels (F.S. 62-777 Table II) for both residential and commercial exposure scenarios, with several cores showing contaminant levels exceeding residential standards but remaining below commercial thresholds. The data indicates chloride concentrations ranging from 5,640 to 30,100 mg/kg across cores, pH values between 7.53 and 8.50, solids content from 29 to 71 percent, and varying degrees of sediment contamination that will inform dredging operations and material disposal protocols for the Sykes Creek Phase II Muck Removal Project.
