About this file
This addendum is issued by Brevard County Purchasing Services for the Sykes Creek Phase II Muck Removal Project (B-8-26-36) and serves as a clarification to the original bid package. The addendum addresses a question regarding turbidity curtain requirements for seagrass protection during hydraulic dredging operations. The key modification announced in this addendum is the change to the bid opening date and time from the originally scheduled August 21, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. to Monday, August 31, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. All other terms and conditions of the bid package remain unchanged, and bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of Addendum 6 on the provided Price Sheet when submitting their bids.
Regarding turbidity curtain requirements, the addendum clarifies that separate turbidity curtains around seagrass areas are not mandated when properly installed and maintained turbidity curtains enclosing the active dredging area provide an effective barrier between dredging operations and seagrass. However, additional turbidity curtains must be installed where necessary to maintain compliance with applicable permit requirements and turbidity standards, or where active-work-area curtains do not provide effective separation. All required seagrass setbacks and prohibitions against anchoring, spudding, pipeline placement, or equipment operation within seagrass areas remain fully applicable regardless of turbidity curtain configuration.

CLARIFICATION TO A QUESTION RECEIVED
Question: As it relates to turbidity curtains. The details show how to protect seagrass with turbidity curtains. If active dredge areas have turbidity curtains around the work area, are turbidity curtains also required around the seagrass areas?
Answer: Separate turbidity curtains are not required around seagrass areas where properly installed and maintained turbidity curtains enclosing the active dredging area provide an effective barrier between the dredging operations and the seagrass. Additional turbidity curtains shall be installed where necessary to maintain compliance with applicable permit requirements and turbidity standards, or where the active-work-area curtains do not provide effective separation. All required seagrass setbacks and prohibitions against anchoring, spudding, pipeline placement, or equipment operation within seagrass areas remain applicable.
Please note that the bid opening date and time have changed to Monday, August 31, 2026 @ 9:00
AM.
All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
Sincerely, Sherry Collett Procurement Supervisor
