About this file
This is a technical specification document for post-mounted signs as part of the 2026 Bristol Borough CDBG Curb Ramp Program in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The specification details the furnishing and installation of fabricated aluminum signs mounted on steel S or W beam posts with breakaway systems in accordance with PennDOT Publication 408, Section 931. The work encompasses general installation requirements, including erection of posts in plumb position without twisting or deformation, proper alignment and centering of signs on posts, and fastening with hardware detailed in TC 8700 Standard Series. Sign locations are established on-site, with contractors responsible for marking longitudinal and lateral positions by stake or paint marks with identifying symbols. All materials must comply with specified sections of PennDOT Publication 408 (Sections 1103.02, 1103.03, 1103.07, and 1103.11), and contractors are required to repair or replace any damaged posts and signs during installation.
The specification does not address pricing, funding sources, or bidding procedures directly, as it functions as a technical standard document rather than a procurement notice. The sign installation work is part of a larger curb ramp improvement project involving multiple bid packages and alternate bids, with the overall project funded through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) resources and governed by PennDOT and Bristol Borough standards. Contractors must demonstrate compliance with this technical specification alongside other requirements including Davis-Bacon wage rates, performance and payment bonds, and various certifications as outlined in the broader project documentation.
