About this file
This is a Fire/Life Safety System Inspection, Testing and/or Maintenance Certificate for the Fayetteville VAMC Red Barn facility located at 1100 N College Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72703. The inspection was completed on August 27, 2025, by Veterans Fire and Life Safety, with Inspector Mike Gill conducting the work and Travis Ryan serving as the facility contact. The inspection and testing were performed in compliance with The Joint Commission/VHA Standards and the latest Joint Commission/VHA Clarification Memorandum on EC & LS Standards.
The inspection tested a total of eight devices across multiple categories. Testing results included three pull stations (all passed), one smoke detector (passed), one speaker/strobe (passed), and one control panel (passed). However, two sealed lead acid batteries rated at 7 Ah and 12 volts each failed testing; the first measured 3.4 Ah in load testing with a pre-test voltage of 12.85 volts, and the second measured 2.3 Ah with a pre-test voltage of 12.45 volts. The batteries failed to meet NFPA 72 Table 14.4.3.2 (9) requirements, which specify minimum acceptable voltages and ohmic values. The Proposed Solutions Report recommends replacement of both batteries on a Time and Materials basis. All other fire alarm system components, including manual pull stations, smoke detectors, notification appliances, and the master control panel, passed their annual testing and are operational. The system control unit was installed on August 7, 2024, with software version dated August 10, 2024.
