About this file

This is a Materials and Equipment specification section (Section 01 60 00) from a construction contract for Horsham Township, Pennsylvania, detailing procurement requirements for the 234 McKean Road Demolition project (26-00182). The specification establishes comprehensive standards governing all products and materials used in the project, including transportation, handling, storage, and protection protocols. Contractors must comply with manufacturer's instructions for all materials and maintain interchangeable components from the same manufacturer when replacing existing equipment. The specification requires prompt inspection of all shipments to verify compliance with contract requirements, correct quantities, and undamaged condition. Products must be stored according to manufacturers' specifications with seals and labels intact; sensitive items require weather-tight, climate-controlled storage, while fabricated exterior products must be stored on sloped supports above ground. A mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kohler Park, 1100 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, Pennsylvania 19002.

The specification addresses product options and substitution procedures, permitting substitutions only when products become unavailable through no fault of the contractor. Contractors requesting substitutions must submit three copies of the request with supporting shop drawings, product data, and certified test results demonstrating equivalence, with the burden of proof on the proposer. All substitution requests must be submitted during the bidding period as specified in the Instructions to Bidders (Document 00 21 13), and the Engineer reserves the right to require use of specifically listed manufacturer equipment items. Contractors waive claims for additional costs or time extensions resulting from approved substitutions and must reimburse the Owner and Engineer for any review or redesign services required for re-approval by authorities. No specific pricing terms, budget amounts, or set-aside designations are detailed within this specification section, as it functions solely as a technical standard for material and equipment management throughout project execution.
