About this opportunity

The City of Alpharetta is requesting qualifications from design consultants for pedestrian safety improvements at multiple downtown locations and an outdoor kiosk under RFQ 22-1007, with responses due July 14, 2022.

The scope encompasses concept through final construction plans for pedestrian safety improvements at four primary locations—Roswell Street at Marietta Street intersection, Academy Street at City Center, Highway 9 streetwall design from South Broad Street to North Broad Street, and a standalone outdoor kiosk—plus an additional scope item for Roswell Street Alpha Loop design from Old Milton Parkway to Old Roswell Street. Deliverables include topographical surveys, utility coordination, concept and final design, landscape design, lighting studies, cost estimates at multiple submission stages, and construction phase services. All design must comply with AASHTO/GDOT guidelines, Georgia Standard Specifications for Construction, and ADA requirements, with deliverables provided in original electronic formats and PDF.

The City will fund these projects locally through three TSPLOST 2 accounts and one general fund account; no federal or state funding is anticipated. The City provides right-of-way acquisition services if required and waives all City permitting fees. The selected consultant, Moffatt & Nichol, was awarded a contract of $272,000 with an anticipated project completion date of 17 months from notice to proceed, scheduled for November 1, 2022. The City conducted a two-phase evaluation: initial qualifications review scored on experience and qualifications (40%), references (20%), and quality of completed project examples (40%), followed by in-person interviews on August 8–9, 2022. Five responses were received.
