3.3 INSTALLATION OF CONDUCTORS AND CABLES
A. Minimum wire sizes shall in no case be less than shown on the drawings and/or specified herein:
1. Power and lighting branch circuits:
a. Where the farthest outlet of a single 120-Volt branch circuit is less than 75 ft (22,875 mm) from the panelboard, use No. 12 AWG wire between all outlets and for the home run of that circuit.
b. Where the farthest outlet of a circuit is more than 75 ft (22,875 mm) from the panelboard, use No. 10 AWG wire for the home run of that circuit and No. 12 AWG wire between all other outlets on that circuit expect where larger sizes are indicated.
2. 120-Volt Control and Signal Wiring: No. 14 AWG.
3. Low Voltage Control Wiring: No. 16 AWG.
B. Conceal cables in finished walls, ceilings, and floors, unless otherwise indicated.
C. Use manufacturer-approved pulling compound or lubricant where necessary; compound used must not deteriorate conductor or insulation. Do not exceed manufacturer's recommended maximum pulling tensions and sidewall pressure values.
D. Use pulling means, including fish tape, cable, rope, and basket-weave wire/cable grips, that will not damage cables or raceway.
E. Identify and color-code conductors and cables according to Division 26 Section 260553 "Identification for Electrical Systems."
F. Do not pull any conductor or wire in a raceway until conduit system is complete and internal raceway has been cleaned. Strain on conductors shall not exceed manufacturer’s recommendations during pulling. Use pulling lubricant, compatible with insulation and covering, that will not cause deterioration of insulation or jacket covers or conductors or wires.
Use pulling lubricant recommended by manufacturer.
G. Place an equal number of conductors for each phase of a circuit in same raceway or cable. Make conductor lengths for parallel circuits equal.
H. Splice only in accessible junction boxes.
I. Neatly train and lace conductors inside boxes, equipment and panelboards.
J. Maintain color coding of conductors for all systems.

B. Make splices and taps that are compatible with conductor material and that possess equivalent or better mechanical strength and insulation ratings than unspliced conductors.
C. Thoroughly clean wire before installing lugs and connectors.
D. Make splices, taps, and terminations to carry full ampacity of conductors without perceptible temperature rise.
E. Terminate spare conductors with electrical tape and roll in box.
F. Wiring at Outlets: Install conductor at each outlet, with at least 6 in. (150 mm) of slack.
G. Torque conductor terminations to manufacturer’s recommended values.
