41. Question: substitution request made for the use of the following item: Speedflow Dryers
Answer: The applicable specification is SECTION 102800 Toilet, Bath, and Laundry Accessories.
Substitution requests are not being evaluated at this stage of the project. Substitution requests will be evaluated in accordance with SECTION 012500 SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES after award.
42. Question: Sheet A‐114, in room between column lines 3 & 5.5 and E & G shows (2ea) projector screen mounts, however the symbol for projector screens does not show up. Please clarify.
Answer: Your statement of understanding is correct. No projector screens are required at these locations.
43. Question: Would the owner/architect consider NCFI as an approved closed‐cell foam manufacture for this project? It is made here in NC which would help LEED credits.
Answer: The applicable specification is SECTION 072119 FOAMED‐IN‐PLACE INSULATION.
Substitution requests are not being evaluated at this stage of the project. Substitution requests will be evaluated in accordance with SECTION 012500 SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES after award.
44. Question: Specification section 312000,1.3,A References Unit Prices for earth moving, however
Specification section 012200 does not list any earth moving unit prices. Please clarify.
Answer: See Amendment 0002 revised Section 312000. There are no required unit prices for earth moving. The only applicable unit price is listed in Section 012200.
45. Question: Specification section 312000, 1.3‐A References Allowances 012100 for earth moving, however Specification section 012100 does not exist in the current specifications. Please clarify.
Answer: See Amendment 0002, revised section 312000. There are no required allowances for earth moving.
46. Question: We have been unable to find if roller shades are to be included at the lobby storefront/curtain wall. Please advise.
Answer: Location of roller shades is indicated on Detail B5 Drawing A‐610 in the contract documents.
47. Question: Specification 013300, 1.8‐C, Mentions BIM Incorporation. #1 just says same digital data software, program, version and operating system as original drawings. Please specify what
BIM coordination will need to be done for this project?
Answer: See amendment 0001, revised Section 013300 1.8C.
48. Question: Specification 114000 Food Service Equipment has a Unit Price sheet which says (Part of Bid Submittal) Please advise if this is to really be part of the bid submission on the 24th and if the bid form will be revised to reflect this.
Answer: Revised answer: See Amendment 0002, revised section 114000.
49. Question: Based on the drawings, it seems the demolition of the existing building’s concrete will not provide enough fill material to fill the basement area. Please confirm fill material will also be needed for the “Base Bid” portion of the work also.
Answer: This is correct. Provide fill to meet the grading plan as indicated on Drawing CS300.
50. Question: Section 083313 Paragraph 2.2J2 references an interior curtain slat facing which implies an insulated slat, but spec does not call for insulation and insulation is not available on counter doors. Please clarify.
Answer: Stainless steel slats are required on each side per Section 083313. The coiling counter door is not indicated to be insulated in this spec section.
51. Question: Section 083323 Paragraph 2.9E1 calls for activation of fire door by fusible links, but paragraph 3.3A3 references activation by alarm system. Is door also to be activated by alarm system?
Answer: Door 132E is a manual, fire‐rated door and is to be activated by fusible links. Door
Schedule drawing A‐603 does not indicate this to be a powered door.
52. Question: Section 083323 Paragraph 2.12 calls for electric operators. Can we assume that Door
132E is not electrically operated based on door schedule notes?
Answer: Door 132E is a manual door. Door Schedule on drawing A‐603 does not indicate this to be a powered door.
53. Question: Sheet A‐401 shows cable chain restraints. Please confirm this is a GC provided item. If so, is there a particular manufacture?
Answer: Drawing A‐401, keyed note 22 calls for the cable chain restraints and locates them. It refers bidders to detail C4/A‐552. That detail is for the steel embed only. Detail indicted is custom fabricated.
54. Question: Spec section 084413, Paragraph 1.8 – This section indicates that we are to perform preconstruction lab mockups. This process takes several months to complete at a premium cost.
Please clarify that this will be required on this project or will they accept informational testing documentation of the systems we intend to use?
Answer: See amendment 0002. The requirement for "lab mockups" has been removed. Provide manufacturer's informational lab mockup testing for the product in accordance with Section
084413 1.4.A.1. Field mockups are required per 1.7. Subject to compliance with requirements, approved mockups may become part of the completed Work if undisturbed at time of
Substantial Completion.
55. Question: Sheet E‐801 lists PWCP. Please provide specifications for this item. More information is needed for suppliers and electrical subcontractors to price accurately.
Answer: The PWCP (Pre‐Wired Control Panel) denotes that the controller will be provided as part of the equipment package. Refer to the individual equipment specification sections for requirements.
56. Question: Specification 133423.16, 2.2, G‐ Mentions a flat roof. Per manufactures comments, flat roofs are not provided for chemical storage buildings. Please confirm a sloped roof design is acceptable.
Answer: See Amendment 0002, revised Section 133423.16 2.2.g. Also, D5/A‐801 indicates a sloping roof. It is the design intent that the roof of the fabricated storage building slopes to drain.
57. Question: The specification calls for Ground Face, which is not typically stained. We also typically put integral water repellent in our integrally colored Split Face‐ not our Split Face to be painted or stained. My question is can you confirm the colors of the
Architectural Masonry?
Answer: The color of the Nawkaw stain is listed in the Exterior Color Schedule on drawing A‐201.
This is for exterior CMU veneer only. The color is as selected by the owner, and shall be provide as indicated.
58. Question: Specification section 11 40 00 Food Service has a Unit Prices Form at the end of the section. There are several questions pertaining to this form:
a. Is this form to be submitted with our bid? It was not on the list provided in section 00010
Item 9.
b. The list indicates a “Class” which is to be a “designator for equipment source”. Are we to price the item whether the equipment is CFCI or GFGI?
c. Item 29 is designated Class A but the description states GFGI.
d. The following item has a discrepancy between the quantity on the drawings and the specs:

e. Item 13 is missing from the list in the specifications.
Answer: See Amendment 0002, revised section 114000.
a. Unit price form is not required. The only unit prices required for the project are identified in
Section 012200.
b. Contractor shall provide only equipment items identified as Contractor Furnished, Contractor
Installed. Contractor shall provide utilities and services for all equipment as indicated in the documents.
c. Item 29 should be Category 2.
d. Schedule on drawing FS‐1 and Equipment Layout Plan indicate Item 25 to be quantity 1.
e. Item 13 is not required, Schedule should be "Not Used."
59. Question: Specification section 019113 Commissioning states the Gov’t will be contracting directly with the Commissioning Authority, but requires the Contractor to provide a
Commissioning Coordinator with similar experience which is typical, but paragraph 1.8.A.2 of the specifications also require the Coordinator to also be certified. These certifications are more typical of the Commissioning Authority. Please confirm the Coordinator must carry one of these certifications.
Answer: The Commissioning Coordinator shall be certified as indicated in Section 019113 article
1.8.A.2.
