About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19) naval vessel, specifically detailing work instructions for cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving Collection Holding Transfer (CHT) Tank No. 4. The TGI provides comprehensive technical guidance for a specific maintenance task, covering locations including the CHT Tank, Clean Salt Water Ballast, Medical Storeroom, Passage, Landing Force Equipment Store Room, Engine Room, and Shaft Alley.
Key technical requirements include commercial blast cleaning of the tank, visual inspection for coating and structural integrity, repair of deteriorated welds and plates, replacement of zinc anodes and air diffusers, and preservation of tank surfaces. The work is part of a larger ship repair and maintenance project scheduled from January 12, 2026, through May 15, 2027, with specific procedural steps for surface preparation, welding, coating application, and quality assurance. The document is marked FOUO (For Official Use Only) and includes detailed material lists, appendices for job summary and deficiency tracking, and a sketch providing location guidance for specific repair elements.
