About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for cleaning and repairing a Chemical Waste Drain Holding Tank (Tank No. 7-67-0-W) on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), part of a larger ship repair and maintenance project. The specific work involves multiple repair tasks including welding, plate replacement, and surface preparation, with detailed requirements such as vee-out and welding one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, and removal and replacement of 10 square feet of deteriorated plate and 4 linear feet of defective stiffener.
The work is scheduled to take place between January 12, 2026, and May 15, 2027, at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka Naval Base. Special requirements include SURFMEPP considerations and work affecting a fire zone boundary, necessitating fabrication of a non-flammable closure. The TGI is part of a comprehensive ship repair contract (Solicitation No. N6264925RA021) involving 47 Task Group Instructions for the USS BLUE RIDGE's Docking-Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA), with the contractor responsible for labor, coordination, quality control, safety management, and other necessary services to complete the repair work.
