About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for maintenance and repair work on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), specifically focusing on cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving JP-5 service tanks and associated components. The TGI details comprehensive requirements for tank maintenance, including commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection for structural integrity, repair of deteriorated welds and plate defects, removal of existing unknown brackets, and coating of surfaces. The work is scheduled to occur between January 12, 2026, and May 15, 2027, and involves multiple ship compartments such as Pump Room No. 2, Air Conditioning Machinery Room No. 2, and various tanks and spaces. Special requirements include addressing potential lead hazards, maintaining a cleanliness level of II for piping systems and equipment, and ensuring non-flammable closures are fabricated for fire zone boundaries.
