About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for mechanical cleaning of the No. 5 Air Conditioning (A/C) Plant Condenser on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), part of a larger ship repair and maintenance project. The specific task involves detailed procedures for removing and reinstalling condenser water heads, performing borescope inspections of 332 condenser tubes, conducting leak checks, hydrostatic testing, and ensuring cleanliness levels for both refrigerant and seawater sides of the condenser system.
The TGI provides comprehensive technical instructions, including requirements for materials like nitrogen for leak checks, lubricating oil, tube inserts, O-rings, zinc anodes, and gaskets. The work is to be performed at Pump Room No. 2 and Air Conditioning Machinery Room No. 2, with specific technical specifications such as using HFC-236fa refrigerant, conducting tests at 270 PSIG with clean fresh water, and applying adhesives conforming to specific standards. The work is scheduled to occur between January 12, 2026, and May 15, 2027, as part of the USS BLUE RIDGE's Docking-Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) maintenance period at the Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center.
