Question RESPONSE
54 NA Reference sheet no. MD302 Keynote No. 01 regarding removal and disposal of the existing dewatering, drainage, sump and asw pump systems at the pump well. Please provide PID for each system which clearly shows the water flow path (source, suction, discharge) and how it is regulated/controlled (i.e.
valves, slide gates, etc.).
PID drawings have been provided.
120 Document 00 41 00 Bid Schedules
The explanation of this bid item states to include the cabling and duct banks "To/From" the substation. Does this include the duct bank and cabling to the PIDC and beyond? Also, should SP-7 and SP-8 be included within this pay item?
PENDING RESPONSE
151 33 20 00 Pure Water; spec section 2.1.1 requires a vendor supplied pretreatment system to treat a fresh water supply for use in the pure water system. What are the deionized quality requirements for the output of this system?
Water Quality requirements are detailed on UM606 Water Quality Schedule. Vendor selection by
NAVFAC
152 33 20 00 Pure Water; Attachment A; section
5.2.6 states that PNSY will be providing a pure water source for hydrostatic testing. Since PNSY will be providing a source of pure water, what is the need for a pretreatment system required in spec section 2.1.1?
PNSY has the ability to provide DI/Pure Water for needed procedures during construction including flushing and hydrostatic testing, but these are temporary measures to support construction. The pretreatment system is a permanent fixture of the Pure Water generation train for long term operation of the system.
153 33 20 00 Reference Spec. 33 20 00 - 3.3.1 regarding hydrostatic testing of pure water tanks using deionized water.
Reference Spec 01 50 00.00 22 - 3.2.2 which states that NAVFAC is to make available to the Contractor at no cost various utilities that do not include deionized water. Please confirm that Contractor is to provide deionized water required for the project. Please confirm that the hydrostatic testing of pure water tanks with deionized water cited in Spec. 33 20 00 - 3.3.1 is to be performed after the tanks have been set in place and is not to be performed in the factory prior to shipment.
PNSY will provide deionized water per 33 20 00 Technical supplement Section 6.10. Hydrostatic testing for the tanks is to be part of fabrication acceptance, but piping hydrostatic testing will require similar water quality and procedures.
163 31 23 00.00 Per Specification 31 23 00.00 part 3.3.4 Excavated Materials Unsuitable for Backfill, need to be disposed of at a licensed facility. Does this apply to the stone fill to be removed from inside of the West Closure Wall Cells?
The fill inside the west closure wall is considered clean fill, all the fill except the bottom 2 feet of material can be removed and trucked or barged directly off yard. Elevations of fill and bedrock interface are provided on the drawings. The bottom 2 feet of material is required to be brought through Bldg 357 and disposed of a at licensed landfill in accordance with the specifications.
164 31 23 00.00 Will the Stone fill from the West Closure Wall Cells need to be offloaded inside the shipyard and brought through building 357 regardless of if it to be disposed of at a licensed facility or other approved location?
The fill inside the west closure wall is considered clean fill, all the fill except the bottom 2 feet of material can be removed and trucked or barged directly off yard. Elevations of fill and bedrock interface are provided on the drawings. The bottom 2 feet of material is required to be brought through Bldg 357 and disposed of a at licensed landfill in accordance with the specifications.
180 33 20 00 Reference Spec. 33 20 00 - 2.1 and sheet nos. UM207 and UM712 regarding pure water System. Sheet no.
UM207, General Note No. 3 states that pure water pretreatment components to be furnished and maintained by third party vendor. Spec. 33 20 00 - 2.1.1 states that vendor is to replace deionization media as needed to maintain water quality. Please advise as to the length of time said replacement of deionization media is required.
Please confirm that other than media replacement NAVFAC is to perform all other pure water system component maintenance.
Procurement of the pretreatment system is by NAVFAC contract with 3rd party vendor. The pretreatment system will be a permanent feature of the pure water system as part of the generation train. Servicing of this equipment is expected to occur via an extension of existing contracts for similar treatment equipment on site.
