REPLACE SOUNDING TUBE DECK SOCKET COVERS Amend 3
1.0
ABSTRACT
1.1 This work item describes the requirements to replace five sounding tube deck sockets and covers. Amend 3 changes the requirement from replace deck on 7-265-2-JJ to trimming sounding tube between 01 level and Main Deck.

NOTES
5.1 The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements to determine applicability to this Work Item. In performance of this Work Item, the contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTR’s.
5.2 The contractor and all subcontractors regardless of tier are advised to review the other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item.
5.3 Accomplish the requirements of this Work Item in conjunction with the work described in Work Item 021 and 602.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional.
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1 Perform the requirements of this work requirement providing material, labor, and any special tools.
7.2 Provide Gas Free Certificate, Safe for Hot Work for top side area of repair. Gas Free requirements for tanks involved are covered by Work Item 021.
7.3 Provide fire watch services during all cutting, grinding and welding operations.
7.4 For the sounding tube deck sockets identified in Para 3.2.2 to 3.2.5, perform the following:
7.4.1 Remove all interior insulation in the vicinity of underdeck locations of the deck sockets.
7.4.2 Provide cover up and fire protection for equipment and habitability furniture in the underlying areas.
7.4.3 Stage area below deck socket locations to allow for any underdeck welding required. For bidding purposes, estimate no more than six feet of staging is required.
7.4.4 Crop out wasted deck sockets. Deck socket details are included in Detail 17-F (page 4/33) of Ref 2.2 and Ref 2.3.
7.4.5 Template replacement deck socket to fit.
7.4.6 Present fit up to ABS and MSCREP, prior to welding. All fit ups shall be callouts.
7.4.7 Weld deck sockets achieve full penetration. All weld repairs shall be final production weld inspected by ABS and the MSCREP.
7.4.8 Surface prep all areas disturbed by work.
7.4.9 Paint to match surrounding areas.
7.4.10 Air tests shall be performed to verify integrity of deck sockets and caps. Requirements for final air testing are covered in Work Item 103.
7.5 For the 7-425-2-FF Cargo Tank, stage sounding tube to the 45-foot mark.
7.5.1 Cut sounding tube to remove sounding tube plum bob.
7.5.2 Replace removed section with new piping of same material.
7.5.3 Prove sounding tube for travel of sounding tape.
7.5.4 Remove staging and restore tank.
7.5.5 Clean and gas free requirements are covered by WI 021.
7.6 For the 7-245-0-FF Tank, stage the 7-265-1-FF sounding tube to the 16 foot mark.
7.6.1 Cut sounding tube to remove thief sample fixture.
7.6.2 Replace removed section with new piping of same material.
7.6.3 Prove sounding tube for travel of sounding tape.
7.6.4 Remove staging and restore tank.
7.6.5 Clean and gas free requirements are covered by WI 021.
7.7 For the 7-265-2-JJ sounding tube, perform the following:
7.7.1 Perform joint inspection with MSCREP to identify location to cut subject sounding tube and cap line from 01 deck.
7.7.2 As part of joint inspection with MSCREP, identify the height from the main deck to cut sounding tube.
7.7.3 Provide and install a standard Navy sounding tube valve which allows for opening valve and performing tank sounding. This is to be installed on the sounding tube that extends up from the Main Deck.
7.7.4 Install pipe cap on sounding tube remnant from 01 level. Pipe cap shall be seal welded.
7.7.5 Provide any staging required to perform modification.
7.7.6 Provide gas free to seal weld cap.
7.7.7 Provide fire watches for seal weld cap.
8.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: None Additional.
