About this file
This is a technical specification drawing (DWG NO. 07) for hot stack penetration installation in built-up roofing systems. The document provides detailed construction guidance for implementing hot and cold stack penetrations through roofed structures, specifying materials, assembly methods, and critical installation parameters.
The drawing outlines a comprehensive hot stack penetration assembly consisting of multiple integrated components including a sheet-metal sleeve, high-temperature sealant, sheet-metal rain collar with 3" to 4" overlap, clamping ring, stainless steel treatment, and wood blocking on the roof deck. The installation sequence incorporates a two-ply stripping with a 4" minimum flange set in asphalt cement and mechanically fastened at 3" on-center intervals, along with insulation perimeter mastic seal at the existing insulated metal liner. The specification includes three critical notes: priming all metal surfaces contacting the specified adhesive; welding or soldering the rain collar to the pipe when service temperature exceeds 400 degrees rather than using sealant; and accounting for clearance between the hot pipe and insulated metal liner based on material handling temperatures. The drawing specifies materials including specified cover board, specified insulation, specified BUR membrane, and treated wood blocking, with the clearance requirement of 8" minimum noted on the assembly diagram. No pricing, contract term, response dates, or procurement timeline information is included in this technical specification document.

DWG NO. 07
NOTES
1. PRIME ALL METAL SURFACES THAT WILL COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE SPECIFIED ADHESIVE.
2. WHEN HOT STACK SERVICE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDS 400 DEGREES, WELD OR SOLDER RAIN COLLAR TO
PIPE IN LIEU OF INSTALLING SEALANT.
3. THE CLEARANCE REQUIRED BETWEEN THE HOT PIPE AND INSULATED METAL LINER WILL DEPEND ON THE
TEMPERATURE OF THE MATERIAL HANDLED BY THE STACK.
