RFI No. Question Response
121 How many fire protection zones are on the existing floors at this time and can you provide the stair towers by location that each zone is connected to?
Based on some existing shop drawings it appears that the floors have two separate fire protection sprinkler zones served from stairs adjacent to columns 19-L and 18-F.
122 Please confirm door types as well as frame types at swing space openings. It appears some have sidelights, confirm no transoms, confirm if any vision glass occurs in doors. Provide specifics for all openings.
All new doors in swing space offices, conference rooms, and break rooms shall be Frame Type 2, Door Type F (Re: A6.11) with classroom type lockset, (3) hinges and door silencers.
Primary suite entry door shall be Door Type 2F and shall have (3) hinges per leaf, door silencers and shall be wired for a card reader.
123 Please confirm ceiling material type in freight elevator vestibules, some dwgs show 2' x 4' ACT i.e.
A1.24a (level 4) while others indicate drywall, i.e. A1.25a (level 5). Is intent that different levels have different ceiling types. If some confirm material at each level where required.
Intent is that all Freight Elevator lobbies are to have ACT ceiling. Corrections were noted where required on the Addendum 02 drawings.
124 Please confirm if new ceiling material is required in Level 1 Lobby 0101.
The intent is to maintain the existing ceiling to the extent possible while achieving installation of the new ceiling areas as shown on the documents.
125 Note regarding fire suppression work and ceiling repair as indicated on drawing A1.03a states "...all existing bathrooms...". Please confirm "all" applies to two men's and two women's rooms on levels 3 thru 9 and one men's and one women's room on level 2; making a total of 30 individual toilet rooms.
Confirmed that work in bathrooms is limited in scope to floors 3 through 9 as noted in RFI.
126 Which phase does work associated with sprinkler work in existing toilet rooms occur in?
Based upon conceptual schedule it is anticipated that this work would be installed in alignment with adjacent work on each floor, however Final Phasing/Scheduling of the work shall be as determined by contractor.
127 Confirm all work associated with studs, insulations, drywall, hardwood sill and bronze aluminum trim at exterior perimeter wall as indicated in details on A5.41 are part of TI allowances.
All work associated with studs, insulations, drywall, hardwood sill and bronze aluminum trim at exterior perimeter wall as indicated in details on A5.41 shall be part of the Core & Shell contract.
128 Key Note 05 013 in detail 2 on sheet A5.41 references "continuous 1/2" thick stainless steel plates welded together..."
seems that this is from detail 6/A5.01. Please advise if this is the correct key note for detail 2/A5.41.
The note 05 013 on 2/A5.41 was mislabeled and should instead reference "PROVIDE STEEL WIRE
HANGER SUPPORTS AT 16" O.C.
ANCHORED TO METAL WALL STUD
FRAMING."
129 Confirm existing and new firesafing requirements at spandrel glass, none are indicated in detail(s).
Continuous firesafing is indicated in Addendum 02 documents. Floor construction must meet 2hr fire-resistance rating.
130 Confirm types and extent of all existing window treatments.
Confirm attachment detail in relationship to face of glass in order to determine if / how they will be handled while installing blast film.
Existing window treatments are horizontal louver blinds mounted between the existing window mullions.
Intent is that they will be removed, cleaned and stored during construction for re-installation. Work associated with the removal, storage, cleaning and replacement of the existing window treatments is to be included in the TI scope of work. Refer to Addendum 02 documents.
131 It appears that the gross square foot area of building is increased by an addition between column line G and H, north of column line 21 at level 1, see A1.01, A1.21, AD1.01a. Please provide elevations and all required information in order to responsibly.
The work associated with the addition at the location noted is to be included in the TI scope of work and is not included in the Core and Shell scope of work.
132 Detail 2 / A5.21 shows section thru toiletroom vanity tops. Tops in toiletrooms on level 2 as shown on A4.20 are quite long, one over 15' in length. Please confirm misc.
metal supports are not desired or required for these vanity tops as well as ones in fitness locker rooms .
Provide metal support framing anchored to wall framing at maximum 4ft on center or as required to support vanity tops and associated plumbing fixtures. Provide blocking within walls as necessary to support and distribute loads.
133 Various details seem to indicate wood framing as means of supports, i.e. at glass partitions (A5.53 and A5.81), We would typically expect this to be metal stud framing. Please advise.
Metal stud framing is acceptable in lieu of wood framing, however in some instances, wood blocking may still be required for stability.
134 Details indicate wood framing as means of support at glass partitions (i.e. A5.53 and A5.81), We would typically expect this to be metal stud framing. Please advise.
Metal stud framing is acceptable in lieu of wood framing, however in some instances, wood blocking may still be required for stability.
135 Confirm that Demolition of the stair, as called out on dwg AD1.08a, should not be included in the bid.
This bid should only include the filling of the floor slab on 9 and the stair with walls will remain and removed as part of the alternates.
Per Addendum 02 documents, demolition of stair and construction of new rated floor assembly in void at level 09 is to be included in the Core and Shell package.
136 Provide Specification Section 012300 “Alternates”.
There are no alternates at this time.

Assume that retractable curtain and rod extend full length of existing exterior windows (+/-29.5') and width of the glass entry to the conference room (+/- 11').
164 Conference Room 0212 on sheet A1.22 indicates a rod for the retractable curtain track along the west and north walls of the room.
The drawing indicates one long continuous track with curtains extending past the beams and the glass storefront along Column B.
However, the glass storefront assembly at door 213 would be in conflict with the curtain/ drapery rod. Please clarify if this is one long continuous drapery track, or is segmented between the structural bays
Design intent is that the drapery track shall be continuous within the conference room and a separate continuous track outside of the conference room in the seating area as shown.
165 Curtains and drapes Spec 122200/2.3/B indicates WT-1, single faced with blackout liner and WT-2, double faced with inner liner. Drawing A6.11 defines WT-1 as Transverse Drapery and WT-2 as Solar Shades. Please clarify the contradiction in the spec and drawing.
Specifications should be used as the basis for the design intent. Type WT-2 Solar Shade is no longer within the scope of the Core and Shell. Type WT-2 noted in the specifications is no longer within the scope of the Core and Shell. Please note: on sheet A4.20, WT-1 call-out should be replaced with CT-1; on sheet A4.41, WT-2 should be replaced with CT-2. Reference Addendum 02 documents.
166 Sheet A6.11 indicates VM-1 as the walk off mat at Level 01 VSF. This flooring type is not tagged on the drawing, and there is not a spec issued. Please confirm that the entrance mat is to be included in the core-and shell and if so, please provide additional information.
Note that Finish Schedule has been moved to sheet A6.01 in Addendum 02 documents. Level 01 VSF is part of TI scope of work and is not included in Core and Shell scope. Finish schedule has been updated to remove TI scope of work.
