About this file
This document is a specification section outlining requirements for vinyl wall coverings in a dormitory repair project. The section specifies vinyl wall coverings must meet ASTM fire testing standards and lists seven approved manufacturers. It requires a minimum backing weight of 33-36 ounces per linear yard and a width of 36 inches for wainscot installation. Samples must be submitted for approval and mockups built to demonstrate quality. Installation must follow manufacturer's instructions and produce tight seams without edges lifted or curled. Extra materials must be provided for future repairs.

1.10 FIELD CONDITIONS
A. Environmental Limitations: Do not deliver or install wall coverings until spaces are enclosed and weathertight, wet work in spaces is complete and dry, work above ceilings is complete, and temporary HVAC system is operating and maintaining ambient temperature and humidity conditions at levels intended for occupants after Project completion during the remainder of the construction period.
B. Lighting: Do not install wall covering until lighting that matches conditions intended for occupants after Project completion is provided on the surfaces to receive wall covering.
NZAS 04-1042
WALL COVERINGS 097200 - 3
C. Ventilation: Provide continuous ventilation during installation and for not less than the time recommended by wall-covering manufacturer for full drying or curing.
