EXPERIENCE PROVIDING
SIMILAR SERVICES
City of Coolidge, SRTP – Coolidge, AZ The City of Coolidge operates Cotton Express, a local fixed-route service and Central Arizona Regional Transit (CART), a commuter service. This plan evaluated the efficiency and effectiveness of these services in serving Coolidge and the region’s transit needs and provided implementation steps to be taken over the next 5 years to improve the service and a long-term vision for the system’s expansion. In addition, the plan includes various public engagement options for both existing riders and non-riders, including a virtual public survey, a paper survey, in-person pop-up events, and stakeholder meetings. The plan resulted in recommended service changes to CART and implementation of microtransit to replace the existing Cotton Express route.
PAG, Microtransit + Dial-a-Ride Study – Pima County, AZ Kimley-Horn provided a comprehensive assessment of current public transit in Pima County and service gaps to determine if microtransit services are feasible, as well as find opportunities to improve existing dial-a-ride service. This study described the trip-making activity in the greater Tucson region and how transit services currently serve transportation demand. The study explored the feasibility of providing microtransit service in areas that lack access to transit, identified poor performing routes that could be replaced with microtransit services, evaluated existing dial-a-ride services and opportunities for service improvement, explored the feasibility of upgrading dial-a-ride service to microtransit to improve service provided to the community, identified general recommendations that could improve and strengthen current service across the service area, and identified appropriate microtransit service models.
City of Cottonwood, TDP – Cottonwood, AZ Kimley-Horn led the development of the federally required TDP for the City of Cottonwood’s two transit systems: the CAT and the Verde Shuttle. The project included existing conditions and performance metric analyses to evaluate the successes and shortcomings of the existing systems. Virtual and in-person public engagement was also conducted to obtain feedback from the public on the systems and promote public transit.
City of Show Low, Southern Navajo County SRTP – Show Low, AZ Kimley-Horn led the development of the federally required SRTP for the City of Show Low’s two transit systems: the Four Seasons Connection and the White Mountain Connection. The project included extensive existing conditions and performance metric analyses to evaluate the successes and shortcomings of the existing systems. Virtual and in-person public engagement was also conducted to obtain feedback from the public on the systems and promote public transit in the White Mountain region. The plan presents recommendations for short-term changes to the system operations, presents opportunities for infrastructure improvements, provides a fiscally constrained funding plan, and options for enhancing the branding and digital reach of the transit system.
