1. ACE/Windchill Overview
What is ACE/Windchill?
• ACE/Windchill is used as a web based Project and Product Data Management tool.
• ACE/Windchill is used as a data repository (storage area).
How can it help me?
• ACE/Windchill provides tools to help you manage project and product data.
• Storing documents in ACE/Windchill reduces time required to look for the most up-to-date version.
• Data is backed up.
• Storing in ACE/Windchill reduces manually emailing the latest documents to the team.
What can you use the tool for?
• Capturing comments and discussions on a document.
• Users can be notified when a document is updated.
• Action items for a project or document can be created and tracked.
• Documents can be formally reviewed and approved, up and down the chain of command.
Security
• ACE/Windchill is secure because it has access controls in place. The access granted to a user is determined by that user’s role within the project. Each person will only see documents and folders they have approval to access, so a user may see more or less items on a given screen than another user.
• Backups are performed regularly to reduce the risk of data loss.
Spillage
• Unclassified FOUO and Below Documentation ONLY!
• Unplug the computer from the network.
• Contact the Information Assurance (IA) POC responsible for that area.
• Contact ACE Support Service Desk immediately at 586-282-1300, Option 2.
• Provide detailed information on the document such as the name and location.
• DO NOT OPEN OR DELETE THE DOCUMENT!
