About this file

This is an Addendum #1 to Section 10500 specifications for Clay County Fire Station 24 in Florida, revising the scope of work for mobile PPE lockers. Per the addendum, all PPE lockers will be provided by the owner and are therefore removed from the General Contractor's scope of work. The specification outlines requirements for mobile lockers designed for storage of personal protective equipment and "turn out" gear, with standard nominal dimensions of 24 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 83 inches high, configurable in groups of 2, 3, 4, or 6 units. Lockers must be capable of being rolled out of the room for periodic cleaning. The specification identifies four acceptable manufacturers: GearGrid Corporation, Ready Rack, Feld Fire, or other manufacturers meeting the specified requirements. Products must include a 1-1/4 inch diameter steel tubing frame, high-strength steel wire side and back grids with 3-inch by 3-inch square pattern, two adjustable shelves, three apparel hooks per locker opening, 250-pound capacity locking casters, and powder coat finish in colors selected by the architect from the manufacturer's standard range. Each locker must include a nameplate holder constructed of 20-gauge sheet metal measuring 2 inches by 16.5 inches. All parts and hardware must be structurally sound and free from defects, with a 5-year limited warranty on manufacturer's defects required.

Installation and assembly must be completed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions with locker interiors and exterior surfaces cleaned prior to project completion. Products must be stored in dry, ventilated areas until installation and protected from moisture, soiling, and damage during handling and delivery. Installation may not occur until painting and similar operations that could damage lockers are completed. Environmental conditions during and after installation must be maintained within manufacturer's recommended limits for temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Any damaged products must be touched up, repaired, or replaced before substantial completion of the project.
