About this file

This is Addendum 1 to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by Swartz Creek Community Schools for Network Cabling Additions, managed by Convergent Technology Partners. The project involves replacing network cabinets that lack room for additional cabling, including a replacement cabinet of at least 12u at Syring Elementary, removal of old cabling and related raceway from two second-floor computer labs, and installation of Cat6A drops with patch cables. Work can be performed during school hours in unoccupied areas and after hours, with the school year ending June 12th, 2025. The project includes an optional alternate to add a new cabinet at Syring toward the opposite end of the building with fiber connectivity to address issues with a hallway ceiling iron roll gate.

The project does not require prevailing wage rates. A lift will be provided for contractor use, and contractors will be issued badge access. The school will coordinate schedules with custodial staff to avoid conflicts with activities like floor waxing. All fiber runs should connect directly to the MDF with no pass-throughs. While exact scales are not provided for all drawings, reference measurements are given for key areas: Maker Space at Dieck, Elms and Morrish is approximately 37 feet wide, Syring Multipurpose Room is approximately 45 feet wide, and Gaines gym is approximately 98 feet long. The only known potential interference during summer work will be parking lot construction.

Request for Proposal Network Cabling Additions

Addendum 1

A1-1 NOTICE

1. The bid documents are amended herein which adds to and/or supersedes conflicting or additional information in the Request for Proposal and Project Prints.

2. Work covered by this Addendum shall be subject to the Introduction, Terms and Conditions, Technical Specifications and Drawings.

3. Acknowledge this Addendum on the Cost Analysis Worksheet and include the cost of the work herein specified in the Bid.

4. Photos for reference can be found here: https://ctpartners.egnyte.com/fl/Hu7xxSr0lb

A1-2 QUESTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS

1. How many units does the replacement cabinet at Syring need to be?

At least 12u.

2. Should the proposal include both computer labs on the second floor for removal of old cabling and related raceway?

Yes.

3. Does this proposal require prevailing wage?

No.

4. Will a lift be available for contractors’ use?

Yes.

5. What kind of provisions will be made to avoid scheduling conflicts with custodial staff?

The owner will provide schedules to contractors of known custodial projects that may disrupt work such as floor waxing schedules. Contractors will provide periodic scheduling describing which area will be scheduled for work in the upcoming weeks, which will then be passed on to appropriate staff.

6. What times are available for contractors to work?

It is preferred that contractors are finished by the time 2nd shift custodial staff is ready to lock up for the evening. If it is beneficial to work later, provisions can be worked out with Travis Smith.

7. Can contractors work while school is in session?

Contractors can work during the day if the work does not disrupt school services. Preferred work areas during a school day would be areas unoccupied by teachers and students (such as boiler rooms, MDF’s, IDF’s etc.)

8. When is the last day of school for students?

June 12th, 2025.

9. Will contractors have badge access?

Yes, a badge will be provided for access.

10. Are there any projects that would interfere with the contractors work over the Summer?

Only large projects known of at this time is work on the parking lots. All building spaces should be accessible.

11. Are patch cables needed for each of the Cat6A drops?

Yes.

12. Is the small, wall mount cabinet in the Syring Elementary office the only cabinet we need to replace/quote?

The wall cabinet is the only cabinet to be replaced, however … with the walk through we discussed possibly having a cabinet at the other end of the school (because of the drop gate). Therefore, as an alternate you can propose a solution for that as well. If you feel appropriate, we could reutilize the cabinet being replaced.

13. Could you please clarify what you want done with regards to the Telecom Bus Bars? Of the 18 drawings, I count only 4 New TBB symbols and 0 ExistingTBBs.

The 4 bus bars listed are recommendations at the very least. I don’t believe there are bus bars in any of the telecom closets. We will be relying on your expertise in these decisions.

14. Are the fiber runs pass-throughs from the MDF to any consecutive IDFs or are all the fiber runs home runs from the MDF? If there is a mix, please identify how many are pass-throughs and how many are home runs.

There are no known passthroughs. They should all run the MDF.

15. Given there aren't scales provided for all of the drawings, do you have an estimated overall length of fiber optic cable?

We do not. Concerning scale, following are estimates:

- At Dieck, Elms and Morrish: Maker Space is approximately 37 feet wide

- Syring Multipurpose Room is approximately 45 feet wide.

- Gaines gym is approximately 98 feet long.

A1.3 SPECIFICATIONS

1. Optional Alternate Add a new cabinet at Syring toward the opposite end of the building, with fiber between to alleviate issues with the current hallway ceiling iron roll gate.
