About this file

This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) document for naval maintenance work aboard the USS RAFAEL PERALTA (DDG-115). The work involves inspection, repair, and preservation of the IRS Eductor Secondary Air Inlet Trunk (Component 01-378-2-Q), System 15211. The contractor work is scheduled to begin on 10/26/2026 and be completed by 12/4/2026.

The primary scope of work includes: visual inspection of the interior trunk for structural deterioration, corrosion, pitting, cracks, and damage; power tool cleaning to bare metal for up to 69 square feet; ultrasonic thickness measurements at up to 10 locations; base metal weld build-up repairs for up to 30 square inches; removal and installation of up to 34 square feet of plate for bulkheads, overheads, and deck plates; removal and installation of up to 13 linear feet of stiffeners; vee-out and welding of up to 5 linear feet of cracked or damaged welds; and application of preservation coatings per SSPC painting standards. All work requires compliance with SSPC-SP 11 surface preparation specifications, nondestructive testing requirements, and local air hose testing with zero allowable leakage. Critical special requirements include fabrication and staging of a non-flammable closure due to the work affecting a fire zone boundary, with the closure to be readily accessible for emergency installation. Supporting service work will be provided by SRF-JRMC, including crane services, utilities, safety and gas-free inspections, and QA inspections. The material list is currently empty, with materials to be provided as a future Deficiency List based on the contractor's condition report.
