Warranty Policy

CornellCookson warrants its products and electrical components (except as noted in Addendum A) against defects in material or workmanship for a period of 24 months from the date of shipment. CornellCookson agrees to repair or replace any parts which a CornellCookson representative determines to be defective within this time. Warranty claims including standard wear items, such as counterbalance springs, will be prorated. Labor to repair or replace defective items is covered for the first 12 months only.

To maintain this warranty, the building owner must hire a CornellCookson authorized dealer to perform periodic maintenance at an interval determined by use but no less than once per year.

Proof of periodic maintenance by an authorized dealer is required documentation for all warranty claims, and no warranty claim will be considered without this documentation.

This warranty specifically excludes additional costs for materials or labor that may be required due to project schedule, site conditions, adjacent construction, incorrect installation, lack of maintenance, lack of access, security requirements, ordinary wear, accident, abuse or neglect.

When a door is damaged, the building owner must contact the installing CornellCookson dealer for repairs and repair to like new conditions. All replacement parts must be supplied by CornellCookson.

Strict adherence to installation and operational guidelines are required for safe door operation.

UL or FM listed and labeled doors that are installed outside of the abstract of the listing and specific dimensions can cause catastrophic failure and will void any performance warranty of the product. Proper installation, acceptance testing, maintenance and annual testing is integral to the safety and performance of the door system, and is required to maintain this warranty.

CornellCookson products are sold as a complete system, the components and systems have been engineered specifically for the safe and reliable operation of the door. Installing components or parts from 3rd parties may void the warranty.

Finish CornellCookson’s finish coat and powder coat finishes shall be warranted against fading, cracking, blistering, flaking or peeling for a period of 2 years from the date of shipment (except as outlined in Addendum A), and be free of corrosion during the period of the warranty.

The design of coiling products, by nature, will abrade virtually any applied finish and this warranty excludes normal wear, impact damage, abusive conditions or products installed in abrasive, chemical or other exceedingly corrosive environments. To help preserve the integrity of the door’s finish, clean the door curtain during construction and as part of the door’s preventative maintenance program.

Electrical Components The use of “motor by others” classifies the sale as a component sale. This will void product warranty if, in CornellCookson’s opinion, it is deemed that the electrical components not supplied by CornellCookson caused damage to the door/closure product or causes undesirable performance.

The following exceptions apply to the electrical warranty:

Incoming line voltages are required to fall within ranges established by ANSI C84.1 (ANSI Standard for Electrical Power Systems and Equipment) and wiring must be connected in accordance with applicable standards established by the current edition of NFPA-70 (NEC) for commercial rolling door operators.

Electrical components supplied from LiftMaster, Micanan, Miller Edge and SIMU will be subject to their manufacturers’ standard warranties. Overloads, transformers, and logic boards are not subject to warranty as these items are subject to improper field wiring and or line voltage fluctuations.

Unauthorized modifications or damage as a result of improper wiring or line voltage fluctuations will void all electrical and possibly the product warranties.

Electrical components are warranted for materials only.

Labor Reimbursement All labor reimbursement requests for warranty claims must be made by an authorized CornellCookson dealer within the first 12 months after shipment. Written approval from CornellCookson is required PRIOR to performing any warranty work. Any work performed by an unauthorized party or without prior approval will void all warranties. Maximum warranty reimbursement is capped at the 50% of the value of the CornellCookson invoiced amount.

Labor warranty reimbursements exclude electrical components and any uncovered costs – examples of this would be; removal and reinstall of adjacent construction, hiring security at an opening, travel costs exceeding 1 hour from dealer location, equipment costs for installation, damage to adjacent construction, etc.

Replacement Material Replacement warranty material will be shipped via standard ground transportation. Expedited delivery charges will not be the responsibility of CornellCookson.

Parts All parts will be warranted for 90 days from the date of shipment.

Warranty Support For assistance with warranty issues, please contact CornellCookson’s Customer Service Department at 800-390-8590 or 800-294-4358.
