About this file
This document is Addendum 4 containing architectural drawing sets and technical specifications for the Kent Memorial Library expansion project located at 32 North Main Street, Kent, Connecticut, involving the Kent Library Association, Inc. and multiple design and engineering firms including Salamone & Associates, P.C. (architect), Morrissey Engineering, LLC (structural and MEP), SLR International Corporation (civil), and Sparc Fire Protection Engineering. The project encompasses renovations and additions to the existing library facility, with construction drawings issued on November 24, 2025 (Revision 2). The addendum provides comprehensive architectural drawings including floor plans, elevation details, wall sections, interior elevations, roof details, and construction sequencing across multiple sheets (T1-T2, C1.01-C1.08, AS0.1-AS1.0, D1.1-D3.1, A1.0-A11.2, S1.0-S3.4, M0.1-M3.1, E0.1-E7.1, P0.1-P3.1, and FP1.1-FP2.1). Key architectural components detailed include basement and foundation work, first and second floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, exterior and interior elevations for the original library, additions, connector, and firehouse structures, building sections, wall sections, roof details, bathroom plans, elevator specifications, and extensive millwork and finish schedules. General notes specify that contractors must not scale drawings but use provided dimensions and alignments, report all errors before commencing work, comply with state and local codes, follow manufacturer installation instructions, coordinate with the architect on fire-resistance ratings and safety compliance, and confirm contract limit lines and existing conditions in the field.
The project is partially funded by Connecticut State bond funds totaling $2 million provided by the CT State Library. General construction requirements include compliance with Division 1 specifications, verification of existing utilities and site improvements, coordination of site access and staging with the owner and town, protection of construction areas from unauthorized access, and proper offsite disposal of all waste materials. Dimensions are specified to rough frame unless otherwise noted, and all existing work affected by new construction must be patched, repaired, cleaned, and finished to match new work quality standards. The mandatory pre-bid conference was scheduled for November 4th at 2:00 PM at the library location, with detailed contractor qualification requirements and bidding procedures outlined in accompanying specification documents and attachments.

1. Perform construction work per Division 1 requirements.
2. Do not scale the drawings. Use dimensions, alignments and notes on the drawing to Locate all elements of construction. Verify that all layouts and alignments fit before beginning construction. Where alignments are required, alignments take precedent over dimensions.r
3. Report any errors, inaccuracies, misalignments, conflicts or missing dimensions to the architect before beginning the work. All communications are to be documented.
4. All work is to comply with applicable State and local codes.
5. Strictly adhere to manufacturer’s written installation and handling instructions and recommendations.
6. Review the intended fire and health-safety code compliance requirements with the architects before beginning work. Plan for fire-resistance ratings to fully encompass the rated spaces. This includes floors and ceilings.
7. Coordinate blocking for all listed and/or drawn items. This includes coordination with furniture and equipment supplied by the Owner.
8. Confirm all Contract Limit Lines in the field. Coordinate with the Owner and the architect: site access, parking, protection, staging and landscape elements to remain.
9. Provide all necessary barriers to protect the site and construction from unauthorized visitors.
10. Verify the locations of existing construction, utilities, site improvements and landscaping elements to remain. Notify the architect of any potential conflicts before beginning work.
11. Coordinate with the Owner and the Town the disposal of unwanted materials. Dispose of all waste materials offsite in a legal manner.
12. Dimensions in the Contract Documents are to rough frame unless noted otherwise.
13. All existing work affected by new construction is to be patched, repaired, cleaned and finished as required to match the quality standards of the new work.
14. Electronic media make it easy to create smaller or larger copies of the graphic Construction Documents. This renders written scales unreliable. The Drawing format is 24” x 36”. Scale references are set to that format only. The GC is responsible to coordinate proper document reproduction scales.
