About this file

This document is a detailed set of specifications for the renovation and expansion of the Sterile Processing Service (SPS) at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) located in Palo Alto, California. The project involves renovating approximately 16,000 gross square feet of SPS/Supply Chain Services (SCS) space in the basement of Building 100, with a total project duration of 720 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The scope includes creating separate spaces for Sterile Processing and Supply Chain Services, constructing a temporary swing space to maintain operational continuity, and installing two SPD Mobile Units and a temporary modular building.

The project is structured in six primary phases: site preparation and temporary modular space placement, activation of swing space and deactivation of existing SPS, demolition of existing SPS, construction of new SPS, activation of new SPS and deactivation of swing space, and final demolition of temporary facilities. The solicitation (36C26125R0008) will be evaluated on technical considerations and cost, with emphasis on past performance, construction management approach, personnel experience, project schedule, and overall cost. The contractor must comply with VA healthcare standards, maintain proper licensure, and adhere to strict safety, infection control, and operational continuity requirements throughout the construction process.
