About this file
This document provides an amendment to a solicitation for construction services. The amendment provides responses to questions regarding requirements for infection control walls and car operating panel locations in elevator modernization projects at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Dimensions are provided for installation of temporary barriers between floors in Building 1 and Building 27. Clarification is also given that the digital display for car operating panels is intended to be located on the cab side walls, not at the entrance, as the available space on return panels would not accommodate the specified display size.

It has been determined necessary and in the best interest of the Government to amend solicitation 36C6024R0009 to provide questions and answers.
Question 19: Please clarify if all infection control walls (LT1 temp barrier) are to be installed up to the concrete floor above. If so, please provide dimensions from finished floor to concrete floor above for each floor.
Government response: The infection control walls (LT1 temp barriers) are to be installed in accordance with the government infection control regulations, this will require containment from the finished floor to the structure above.
Dimensions from finished floor to concrete floor above for each floor.
Building 1:
BF to 1F – 11’-0”
1F to 2F – 12’-0”
2F to 3F – 11’-0”
3F to 4F – 11’-0”
4F to 5F – 11’-0”
5F to 6F – 11’-0”
6F to 7F – 11’-0”
7F to 8F – 11’-0”
8F to Penthouse – 12’-0”
Penthouse to Machine Room – 12’-3”
Machine room to Roof – 9’-5”
Building 27:
BF to 1F – 12’-0”
1F to 2F – 14’-0”
2F to Roof – 12’-0”
Question 20: Current platform is sized based on space available in hoist way, an increase in size is not possible given the seismic requirements and the existing hoistway.
Specification calls for a car operating panel in each return and specifies Elite display which require 13” of space. With the door opening size specified this is not possible.
Available space on each return panel with 2SCO 4’-0” doors is 7.75”. Please provide clarification on car operating panel locations and requirements or confirmation that the hoistway width will be increased.
36C26024R0009 003
Government response: The digital display is not intended to be on the interior of the CAB on the same wall as the door. There is no intent in this design to alter the dimension of the hoistway.
The details located in the Contract Documents A-201 and A-203 show the digital display being placed on the side walls of the cab not the entrance of the CAB.
