About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a facility-wide nurse call system upgrade at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital. The Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital seeks to upgrade its existing Rauland nurse call systems (ranging from Rauland 3 to Rauland 5 models) to a single, unified enterprise-level Rauland Responder 5 or equivalent system across six buildings (113, 128, 200, 217, 221, and 228). The upgrade will standardize communication infrastructure across 497 authorized beds, including specialized units such as SICU, CMICU, acute rehab, hematology/oncology, dialysis, and psychiatric care. The solution must function as a single integrated system with centralized management, one set of servers running Windows Server 2016 or latest VA-approved version, and MS SQL 2016 databases, allowing multiple facility buildings to communicate seamlessly.
The vendor must provide complete installation labor, materials, equipment management, and transportation while maintaining operational continuity of existing systems during installation. Required deliverables include patient stations with code blue/staff assist buttons, LED indicators, pillow speakers, and TV/lighting control capabilities; pull cord stations with waterproof specifications and LED corridor lights; nurse consoles with VoIP capabilities and 32 customizable one-touch functions; and staff assistance/code blue stations. Additional requirements encompass installation drawings, network topology diagrams, inventory documentation with serial numbers, technical training for at least four biomedical engineering technicians, facility-wide user training across all shifts, removal of obsolete equipment, compliance with JCAHO/NFPA/life safety standards, SIP trunk integration for voice communication, open API for system integration, Active Directory support, and licenses enabling census boards, activity boards, ADT, staff assignments, event integration, overhead paging, dashboards, reports, and duress integration. The vendor must provide a minimum five-year hardware warranty and one-year maintenance availability with local onsite service within two hours of call.
