552-CSI-162 DVAMC SITE PREP FOR PET/CT

# Questions Response 1 Is there a geotechnical report for the Dayton VA - Site Prep for PET CI Project? If not can you get a historical geotechnical report?

Geotech report provided, see attached report and addendum.

2 Has there been borings done on the site location? Yes, see attached geotech report and addendum.

3 The specs call for a person with sole duties as an SSHO to be on site the entire project. This will add substantial cost to the project. Does the VA want a separate SSHO?

Superintendent may serve as the SSHO as long as the person is fully qualified as stated in section 01 35 26 - 12 section 1.8.

4 This is regarding the ArrisTile stone veneer on the project to match existing. The existing Arriscraft stone is dimensioned at 12x24 per the original building and for the addition being built now – the new drawings show a stone dimension of 8x24. Additionally the stones previously supplied had a 4” return corner. The new drawings show the corners to be a quirk miter corner. North elevation shows a perforated metal panel screen wall over top of a portion of the stone, but this is clearly installed in front of the stone cladding when looking at the plan in section view. Is the stone required behind the screen wall ?

Match existing size and color of existing stone veneer. See 09 06 00 Schedule of Finishes, Section 2.1 Division 04 - Masonry.

See revised Exterior Elevations, sheet AS-400. Panels with 4" return corner ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. Provide mitered corner per documents. Provide stone veneer behind screen wall along North Elevation 1/AS-400.

5 Do you have a Geotechnical report and bidders list for this project available please?

See attached geotech report. Sign in sheet for the walk thru will be posted.

6 In the drawings on page SS-001 General Notes Page, Under Foundations they reference a geotechnical investigation report done on 02/28/2020 by S&ME. I cannot find this report so Can you please provide that geotechnical report

See attached geotech report.

7 Do all pipes shown on pages MH1.1, MH1.3, and MH1.4 receive insulation? (HPS, LPS, LPC, CPD, the refrigerant and condensate line/drains) Specs call for insulation at HPS but the LPS and LPC are not directly addressed in the specifications

Revised specification section 23 07 11 issued within Addendum 1

8 What size are the refrigerant lines at ECU-1 and RTU-1 to

CU-1?

Sizes to be coordinated with the equipment mfg.

9 Spec section 23 07 11 Section 3.3 Pipe Insulation Schedule calls for CH, CHR, GC, and GCR to be insulated. I do not see these systems on the plan. Will any CH, CHR, GC, or GCR piping be installed?

The CH and CHR piping refers to the chilled water supply and chilled water return piping denoted as CWS and CWR on the mechanical plans. No GC or GCR piping in project.

10 Solicitation illustrates Alternate #1-#4 (Items II-V), as part of the bid. What are they? Where can we find them?

See section 01 00 00 General Requirements

11 What is the Date and Time Bids are due? What procedures do we need to follow at bid opening? Is the opening still at the Kettering location?

Contracting will provide bid opening information.

12 Ref drawing C-1.0- From where can the contractor access the site for equipment and material delivery? Will a access road be required with a rock entrance to avoid erosion and tracking onto asphalt surfaces? Can the fenced area shown on the site preparation plan be larger since the area as shown does not appear adequate for staging material and maneuvering large equipment around the site?

See attached sketch A-1. Access to the site can be via a paved drive way south from Michigan Ave. leading toward the building 330 loading dock. See attached sketch and coordinate with COR on rock entrance and gravel access road.

Coordinate with COR on final location and configuration of construction fence.

13 Ref drawing AD-201 keynote D26- What is thickness of slab scheduled for removal?

Existing drawings provided by the DVAMC calls out for 7" S.O.G.

14 Ref spec 27 52 23- The specification indicates to install a complete new nurse call system. Drawing EL3.4 keynote 2 calls out reinstalling dome lights. Can further clarification be provide on what the overall intent is for the nurse call system?

New addition is provided with new, basic nurse call system.

Existing nurse call system to be reused in renovated area of project scope. Where floor plans indicate to reinstall/relocate existing nurse call devices, contractor shall correspond accordingly. Where floor plans indicate new nurse call devices, contractor shall provide. Refer to revised Addendum #1 plans for clarification.

15 What is the diameter of the roof drains? Roof drain diameter to be same as pipe size.

16 Ref spec 07 60 00 - Will MightyFlas flexible Stainless flashing and drip plate be acceptable for the masonry flashing on this project? Will the air space in the cavity wall be filled solid only when below grade?

Products equal to the basis of design will be considered during submittal review. With a sloping site, fill air cavity space behind masonry with solid grout to grade plus 6" for north, east and west elevations. For south elevation, fill air cavity space behind masonry per details.

17 The drawings have taper polyisocyanurate insulation board.

With the membrane on it shown on the drawings. The Spec’s show a ½” primed gypsum cover board which is not on the drawing. Do we provide cover Board? Spec 07 54 23 4 - paragraph 1.6B call for a Registered Roof Observer. Is this required?

Provide 1/2" cover board. Provide registered roof observer per specifications.

18 Toilet Accessories See revised section 09 06 00 Schedule of Finishes, and 10 28 00 Toilet Accessories

19 Can you provide a spec for the above grade water proofing? It appears the spec 07 14 16 only references foundations below grade. Does the AE want the same water proofing system behind the stone as well as behind the brick?

For above grade, see section 07 25 00 Weather Barriers per drawings. Same system can be applied behind stone veneer and masonry.

Ref drawing AS302- The lead shield requirements appear to differ from what is shown on lead shielding report furnished with spec 13 49 00. Room 1C137G is called to have ¾ brick per drawing but the report calls out ½”. Which is correct?

The shielding thickness specified on the drawing AS-305 for 1C137G is correct, with 3/4" lead brick on the west wall.

21 Is lead lining required on floors? No, Lead Shielding is not required on the floors.

22 exit sign see lighting fixture schedule on EL0.2
