About this file
This document contains responses to a contractor's requests for information regarding a federal solicitation to renovate Building 34 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center to correct facility condition assessment deficiencies. The solicitation is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 9. The contractor requests base quantities for gutter repair and replacement as well as downspout repair and replacement for bidding purposes, as full inspection of the building was not possible. The contracting officer provides pricing to replace approximately 15 downspouts and 650 linear feet of gutters. Unit pricing for variations from the base quantities is not accepted. The contractor also requests a detail of the gutter profile and confirmation if aged copper color will be required for new gutters and downspouts. The contracting officer agrees to provide the gutter profile detail and states aged copper color is not required.

REPLY NEEDED BY:
INFORMATION NEEDED:
88. Can the VA give a base quantity for gutter repair as well as gutter replacement for bidding purposes? Same for downspout? It is difficult to quantify unless we are up at the eave inspecting directly and only portions were accessible during the walkthrough.
89. Can there be unit pricing for gutter and downspout repair and replacement if the final amount ends up being above or below the base quantity? This will allow for us to either change order above the base quantity or give a credit back if it is less than base quantity.
90. Can a detail be provided of the gutter to show the profile so we can quote accurately?
91. Will the VA require the copper to be “aged” so the color matches as close as possible to the existing patina?
