QUESTIONS SUBMITTED IN WRITING TO THE CONTRACTING OFFICER BY 10/16/2024, 1400 HOURS (MDT)

1. Are vibratory methods for aggregate pier installation not allowed?

i. No, only the specified method in 31 32 26 – Aggregate Piers.

2. In Spec 53 20 00 there’s a list of boring logs but have been unable to find them. Where can I get the boring logs?

i. The information will be provided within the 100% package provided during Stage Two of the proposal evaluation process.

3. 31 03 33 1.07 T (Page 18) Regarding the 24-hour maintenance on site while the dewatering systems are operational, are two personnel on site for safety reasons during nighttime hours required? Additionally, can this maintenance be managed through 24-hour online equipment reporting in lieu of manpower?

i. We advise that the contractor follow the lone and remote worker policy found in OSHA 191584 and RSHS’s Lone and Remote Worker guidance. We would also advise the contractor to create a fatigue management program to mitigate fatigue among employees taking part in 24-hour operations.

ii. 24-hour online equipment is not allowed in lieu of 24-hour onsite presence. It is critical that issues with dewatering be responded to in an immediate matter. Automated readings can take place around the clock, but an onsite presence is imperative.

4. 31 03 33 1.08-A (Page 18) Could you please clarify the expected duration of well-run time for Phase 2 excavation, considering that the dewatering sequencing for Phase 1 is outlined as a minimum run time of 30 days prior to excavation 4568?

Specification Section 31 03 33 included as an attachment to this amendment.

10. 31 03 33 2.10 F (Page 26) Can we substitute a bucket flow test on each well instead of installing flow meters, given that we will have 24-hour observation on site?

i. Flow meters are required on each well per specifications Section 31 03 33 Paragraph 2.10 found as an attachment to this amendment.

11. 31 03 33 3.03 B (Page 28) Regarding the collection and storage of material collected from borings, will continuous coring be required? What are the sampling requirements, and is 100% recovery expected?

Additionally, how are samples to be stored and what is procedure for this, will samples be stored in bags or boxes?

i. As close to continuous coring, sampling, and 100% recovery should be maintained.

Samples should be stored near borings, and bags are acceptable.

12. 31 03 33 3.03 H (Page 29) Could you clarify whether we are to collect and store samples as indicated in

Note B, or should we dispose of the drill cuttings as stated in Note H? Is collection in bags acceptable?
