About this file
This document is a technical drawing for an Electrical Equipment Support, Type I. The drawing provides details on the base plate, combination channel, connection plate, and overall dimensions and construction requirements for the support structure. Key details include:
The electrical equipment support is designed to withstand a 90 mph wind load per ASCE 7-05 standards. The contractor is responsible for determining the final size based on the electrical cabinet being supported. The drawing specifies required materials, hardware, welding, and fabrication details. The foundation design engineer is responsible for verifying the foundation stability, concrete/reinforcement strength, and anchorage requirements. The electrical equipment supports are to be installed at locations shown on the specification drawings or as directed by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).

NOTES
1. Contractor determines final size of electrical equipment support based on electrical cabinet furnished.
2. Unless noted otherwise, or as directed by the foundation design engineer, install 5/8"Ø post-installed anchors with a minimum embedment of 6" or 5/8"Ø cast-in-place threaded anchors with a minimum embedment of 1'-6" having a minimum projection of 2".
3. Foundation design engineer shall verify foundation stability, concrete and reinforcement strength requirements, and anchorage requirements.
4. Install electrical equipment supports at locations shown on specifications drawings and/or as directed by COR.
5. Estimated electrical equipment support weight shown is based on maximum dimensions and five hole connection plates.

Fabricated Metalwork:
Plates and bars_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ASTM A36
Length of bolt threads per ASME B18.2.1 and thread class 2 free-fit, American National coarse-thread series.
Unless noted otherwise, make all welds continuous and in the shop.
Start and stop all welds at center of member or tubing.
Unless noted otherwise, fabricator shall determine edge preparation and root opening for groove welds. Shop detail drawing shall show edge preparation.
Arc-Welding Electrodes: Filler metal and required shielding gases or fluxes shall be per AWS D1.1 with filler metal for steel having a minimum tensile strength of 70,000 psi.
Unless noted otherwise, all bolted connection bolt holes are standard 1/16" oversize.
"Y" dimensions are the responsibility of the Contractor and are based on the electrical cabinet furnished.
DESIGN CRITERIA
Electrical equipment support is designed to withstand a three-second gust basic wind speed of 90 mph in accordance with ASCE 7-05.
It is assumed that no electrical cabinets will be installed in lower portion of frame.
