UNSPSC 78141602: Cargo survey services

UNSPSC 78141602 Cargo survey services is a Commodity code that does not align with the recent state and local procurement activity posted under it. The source records show a diverse range of inspection, testing, and engineering services — including project management staffing, building plan review, detention facility health inspections, crane operator training, water meter calibration, fire sprinkler system inspections, residential home inspections, stormwater inspections, promotional exam development, and software procurement — but none of these represent cargo survey work as the code name describes. State and local solicitations tagged with this code span multiple issuing bodies including water authorities, cities, counties, school districts, transit agencies, and specialized departments across Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Texas, California, Illinois, and other states, with activity concentrated in the past six months from February through July 2026.

The mismatch between the code's nominal scope and actual procurement activity suggests this code is not currently used consistently by state and local procurement offices, or that tagging errors have assigned diverse inspection and engineering services to a code intended for maritime or logistics cargo assessment. Firms pursuing opportunities in facility inspection, construction engineering and inspection, building code compliance, equipment testing, or related professional services should monitor specific jurisdictions and notice types directly rather than relying on this code for market intelligence. Recent RFP, ITB, and RFQ activity under this code reflects episodic demand for specialized inspections and certifications but provides no coherent market signal for cargo survey services specifically.
