About this opportunity

The City of Ocala, located in Marion County, Florida, is seeking qualified contractors for the Southwest 44th/46th Avenue 4-Lane Extension project (ITB# CIP/250467), a roadway infrastructure improvement initiative. The project involves widening the existing two-lane SW 44th/46th Avenue from SR 40 to SW 20th Street into a four-lane divided roadway, spanning approximately 6,800 linear feet. Key project deliverables include constructing four 12-foot travel lanes, a 6-foot traffic separator, grass median, 4-foot bike lanes, concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, curb ramps, gravity walls, and associated signing and thermoplastic pavement markings. Bidder qualifications are stringent, requiring three years of roadway resurfacing experience, FDOT pre-qualification in work classes including Grading, Flexible Paving, Hot Plant-Mix Bituminous Courses, and Sidewalk, as well as a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Advanced certification. The procurement will be conducted on a unit price basis, with award going to the lowest responsive bidder meeting all requirements. The bid requires a 5% bid bond, and pricing must be honored for 60 days after award, with bids due by April 30, 2025, and a project duration of 240 calendar days.

There are no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on organizational types mentioned in the procurement documents. The project does not indicate any incumbent vendors or existing infrastructure requiring special integration considerations. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the unit price bidding approach suggests flexibility in project cost. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive bidder, with the City paying only for actual units provided, installed, or constructed. The prime contractor must perform a minimum of 60% of the work with their own forces, and a five percent retainage will be held until project acceptance and final completion. All pedestrian facilities must adhere to current ADA standards, and the contractor is responsible for providing all materials, labor, and equipment to complete the project. The project emphasizes proper maintenance of traffic and requires one MOT/TTC Advanced certified person to be on-site at all times during construction.
