About this file
This solicitation is for a firm fixed-price construction contract to rehabilitate turbine generator units at Old Hickory Power Plant in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The Nashville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks to increase the maximum output of units 1, 2, and 3 to 45 megawatts by rewinding their generators and replacing their turbine runners. For unit 4, the generator was already rewound in 2021 but the turbine runner was not replaced. The estimated value of the contract is between $25 million and $100 million.
The scope of work involves electrical work to rewind and restack the stators for units 1, 2, and 3 to a capacity of 45,000 kVA at 13.8 kV, as well as replacing components like the stator windings and core laminations. Mechanical work encompasses replacing the Kaplan turbine runners for units 1, 2, and 3 to increase output to 61,600 horsepower, along with new wicket gates. Support systems for all units will be inspected, refurbished or upgraded. A site visit is scheduled for May 5, 2022, with request forms due May 3 for U.S. citizens and two weeks prior for foreign nationals. Questions must be submitted through ProjNet by the dates outlined in the solicitation.
