JACE 8000 Series Specs for Niagara AX Server Installation
1. Fort Benning currently has a NiagaraAX Server (AX Server) operating with AX Supervisor.
A number of building’s HVAC systems along with lighting systems have already been integrated into the AX Server. Some of the buildings on the installation already contain JACEs that are integrated into the AX Server. These systems will be migrated by the Contractor from the existing JACE (typically a JACE 6E) to the newly installed JACE 8100.
2. The existing AX Server specifications are listed below:
a. Dell Power Edge
b. Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit)
c. Intel Xeon 2.6 GHz processor
d. 16 GB ram memory
e. Niagara AX Supervisor 3.8
3. Replacement or newly installed JACE controller/supervisors shall be JACE 8100 series or higher.
4. The preferred DDC system for this project is a Lon Communication network with a JACE head end based system conforming to Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Division 23, Section 23 09 23 and Division 25 Section 25 10 10.
5. Equipment and devices shall be compatible and operable with existing systems and shall not impair reliability or operational functions of existing supervising systems. The new system shall work in parallel with the existing system until the new system is completely tested and proven reliable.
6. Where possible, the Contractor shall select material from one manufacturer, and not a combination of manufacturers, for any particular classification of material.
7. The recommended practices stated in the manufacturer's literature or documentation shall be considered as mandatory requirements.
8. All systems that are planned for future integration into the Niagara Control System as part of a project are currently functioning acceptably and are not in need of repair or maintenance. If during the course of performing the work the Contractor determines that an existing system or component is in need of repair, the Contractor shall immediately notify the Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator will then determine the appropriate disposition of the issue.
9. The Contractor shall install new building controller(s) in each building for those new systems that are being integrated. The building controllers shall be at a minimum, Tridium JACE 8100, Niagara AX Controllers (Tridium part number JACE-8100-AX). Rebranded Tridium JACEs are acceptable as long as they are licensed to be totally open in accordance with the NICS license requirements listed in the Applicable Specifications and they are compatible with the security requirements and UL requirements for the specific JACE application. Government reserves the right to reject a Contractor’s proposed rebranded JACE if all requirements for compliance with Fort Benning and Niagara network security are not met.
10. The minimum acceptable license for the JACE is 100 devices and 5,000 points. The Tridium JACE 8100 has capacity for 100 devices or 5,000 points and is therefore considered the default minimum standard for JACEs deployed at Fort Benning. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to provide the appropriate license capacity based on the building specific application and point count. Some buildings may require for example more than 100 devices or more than 5,000 points. In this situation the Contractor shall license the JACE for the next higher model JACE (JACE-8200).
11. The Contractor shall include in their device and point count for selecting the appropriate JACE license, a minimum of 25% excess capacity for future device integration. In other words, if the actual device count is 82, a 25% excess capacity would be 21 for a total device count of 103. Since the device count is greater than 100, the Contractor shall provide the JACE license for the JACE-8200 with 200 devices. If the device count including the 25% excess capacity is greater than 200, the Contractor shall provide multiple JACEs with the appropriate licenses.
12. The JACE 8100 shall be complete with the following:
a. Embedded Work Bench AX
b. Removable 4 GB micro-SD card
c. All necessary communication and I/O Expansion Modules
d. All necessary plug-ins, drivers and licenses needed to insure the JACE communicates and interfaces with the integrated systems and devices
e. Any parts (drivers, licenses, firmware, etc) required to use the JACE 8100 with Niagara AX 3.8 and
f. Latest version of NiagaraAX firmware.
13. The project requires that dedicated JACE’s be used for specific controls as listed below:
a. FACP JACE – only used for integration of FACP
b. Security JACE – only used for access control systems for buildings
c. General Purpose JACE – used for integration of mechanical systems, smart meters, generators, and lighting
14. Each JACE listed above shall be provided with an appropriate label inside the enclosure identifying the JACE and it’s function.
15. For those buildings where there is an existing JACE in a small enclosure (one not large enough to support 3 of the JACE 8100’s), the Contractor shall remove the small enclosure and replace it with one that is of sufficient size to support three (3) JACEs. The small enclosure shall be turned over to the BASEOPS Contractor.
16. Each JACE supplied by the Contractor for this project shall be installed within a lockable enclosure. The Contractor my reuse the existing enclosure if the enclosure drawings prepared by the Contractor are approved by Government based on the new design requirements stated herein.
17. The contractor shall provide and install in the enclosure one or more JACEs, a power supply for each JACE, a circuit breaker, network switch, and a 120-volt 20-amp receptacle (for use by BASEOPS Contractor). The enclosure shall be similar to the one shown in Figure 1 but sized for 3 JACEs. Power for the contractor’s components shall not be provided from the receptacle located within the enclosure.
18. The enclosure shall have capacity for up to three (3) JACEs. The enclosure shall be sized to allow for the JACE 8100’s along with 4 option modules for each JACE. Some of the option modules may be installed initially by the contractor while other option modules would be installed in the future. Note that the enclosure in Figure 1 is sized for only 2 JACE 6Es, all enclosures shall be sized for 3 JACEs. The Contractor shall prepare and submit for Government review and approval all enclosure drawings with parts lists.
