About this file
This is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) document for maintenance and repair work on the USS SHOUP (DDG-86) potable water tank system.
The TGI specifies the cleaning, assessment, repair, and preservation of Potable Water Tank 4-126-1-W, a 3,965-gallon tank located in Auxiliary Machinery Room No. One. Work includes conducting a Corrosion Control Assessment and Maintenance Manual (CCAMM) assessment to identify existing preservation coating conditions, structural integrity issues, deterioration, pitting, cracks, and damage or distortion. General cleaning must meet Level II standards. The contractor must perform base metal weld buildup totaling 36 square inches for each plate defect, with surfaces ground to sound metal prior to welding. Additional work includes preservation coating application for 127 square feet of defective painted surfaces (not exceeding 10 square feet per area), installation of new gaskets, washers, and nuts on two manhole cover plates (15" x 23" steel), and preservation coating of bolting rings and cover plates. Chlorination and bacteriological testing of the tank must be conducted by a qualified Japanese laboratory accredited by ISO 17025 or equivalent. Government-furnished materials include hex nuts (52 EA), flat washers (52 EA), and synthetic rubber gasket sheet (18 SF). The work is managed by Planner Code 231A S. Komatsu and Work Integration Manager Code 333 T. Yaginuma, with contractor work dates specified in the TGI Program of Period List.
