RESP: Confirmed laundry doors must be provided with hollow metal frames. See forthcoming amendment.

130. Regarding RFI response 50 and revised specification section 31 32 23, para 3.2.3.2. – The specs call for placement of grout by gravity method with the use of a tremie pipe. If the minimum diameter of the hole is 50 mm or 2-inches, only 25 mm or 1-inch dia. tremie pipe can be used. 1” diameter is too small to grout by gravity. The tremie pipe may get stuck or wedged in the hole if a small rock falls inside between the annular space of the pipe and hole that will be very difficult to pull out.

Normal practice for the grout is poured directly into the hole by gravity method. The grout is placed on one side of the hole to avoid trapped air on the grout. If large cavities are encountered, a small diameter pipe is inserted in the hole with air pressure introduced in the pipe during grouting to ensure the high-slump grout is pressurized to fill the voids. Also, 10 ft depth of grouting is very shallow and direct pour by gravity is suitable method. Please consider to waive the tremie placement of grout.

RESP: A tremie pipe must be used in the event that the hole gets plugged prior to the grout reaching the bottom. The contractor has the option of using a probe tip larger than 51 mm diameter so a tremie pipe can be inserted without getting stuck. In some areas, structural fill may be encountered above the coralline limestone which may prevent the grout from reaching the bottom of the probe hole if sloughing occurs. Therefore a tremie pipe will be required for the grouting under foundations.

131. Please advise grout strength for probing and grouting.

RESP: A minimum strength of 150 psi should be used. See forthcoming amendment.

132. Please advise if contractor is able to install regular PVC C900 pipes by open trench method instead of fusible PVC and/or trenchless piping.

RESP: No, the pipe material must be fusible PVC per contract documents.

133. M-601 – The chiller flow rate is 14.3 lps but the CHW pump flow is 27.8 lps. This is a very large discrepancy in flow and the pressure drop of the chiller would be incorrect. This would cause excessive velocity thru the tubes and would result in a 10.4 deg leaving temp from the chiller. QUESTION: Please confirm the correct flow rate.

RESP: 14.3 LPS for CHW pump. See forthcoming amendment.

134. M-601 – The WSHP has a stated minimum capacity of 464 kW. The evaporator conditions are 4.2 lps @ 7.7 temperature difference. The evaporator capacity at that condition is only 136.5 kW. QUESTION: Please confirm the correct flow rate and/or capacity.

RESP: Revised WSHP schedule. See forthcoming amendment.

135. M-601 – CWP-4 & 5 are dedicated to the WSHP with a flow of 10.7 lps. The WSHP has a flow rate of 4.2 lps This is a very large discrepancy in flow and the pressure drop through WSHP would be incorrect. This would cause excessive velocity thru the tubes and would result in a 8.9 deg leaving temp from the WSHP. The increased flow rate would still not meet the 464 kW capacity. QUESTION: Please confirm the correct flow rate.

RESP: 9.5 LPS for CWP-4 & 5 to match revised WSHP schedule. See forthcoming amendment.

136. M-601 – CWP-4 & 5 are dedicated to the WSHP with a head pressure pf 491 KPA. These pumps do not contribute flow or pressure to the main system pumps. This is the same head pressure listed for the system pumps. The listed pressure drop for the WSHP is 9.16 KPA.

QUESTION: Please confirm the correct pump head.

RESP: CWP-4 & 5 revised for WSHP branch. See forthcoming amendment.

137. M-601 – The FCU capacity is 1.1 kW and the condensing unit is 3.52 kW. Both pieces of equipment must match for the unit to operate properly. QUESTION: Please confirm the equipment capacity.

RESP: 1.1 kW for ACCU. See forthcoming amendment.

138. M-403 – The exhaust piping and muffler for the generator are not shown. QUESTION:

When will this information be available?

RESP: Yes. See forthcoming amendment.

139. M-001 – Work Notes # 10 states to route all control and motor starter wiring in conduit.

QUESTION: Please clarify if this is only 120v and above or if this also includes 24v.

RESP: Only 120V and above. See forthcoming amendment.

140. M-704, Sequence of Operation, II.A –States the return chilled water temperature to be 12.2 degree. All of the equipment schedules have the return water as 14.4 degree. QUESTION:

Please clarify.

RESP: 14.4 degrees for chilled water return. See forthcoming amendment.

141. M-114, M-403, & M-901 –No air separator is shown for the chilled water system.

QUESTION: Please confirm this is correct.

RESP: Added air separator. See forthcoming amendment.

142. P-727 –AHP-1 & AHP-2 are served by a single pump. There is no way balance the flow between the two pieces of equipment. QUESTION: Should a balancing valve be added to each unit?

RESP: Provided balancing valves. See forthcoming amendment.

143. M-601 – WSHP-1 condenser entering temperature is higher than the leaving temperature.

QUESTION: Are these temperatures reversed?

RESP: See revised schedule on M-601. See forthcoming amendment.

144. M-601, P-602, & P-727 – WSHP-, AHP-1, and AHP-2 equipment schedules list the discharge temperature as 57.2 degrees but the piping schematic and sequence of operations states 60 degree discharge. A 60 degree temperature is the preferred temperature to prevent legionella.

QUESTION: Which temperature is correct?

RESP: Confirmed. 60 degrees shall be the water discharge temperature. The equipment schedules on M-601 and P-602 will be revised. See forthcoming amendment.
