About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for repair and preservation work on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), specifically focusing on deck plate repair in compartment 7-58-0-A. The TGI is part of a larger ship repair and maintenance project scheduled from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2027, and involves removing and replacing deck plates, performing coating work, and addressing potential hazards such as asbestos and lead in multiple ship compartments including storerooms, ballast tanks, and void spaces.
The instruction details specific technical requirements, including removing existing deck plates, fabricating and installing new plates, conducting air hose tests on welds, and applying new coatings. The work involves multiple ship areas and requires compliance with various naval standard items and maintenance manuals. The document includes appendices with job summary information, material lists, and a deficiency form, and specifies that the Ship Repair Facility-Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) will provide government-furnished materials and services to support the repair work.
