About this file

This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), specifically focused on cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and preserving Void 7-52-0-V. The TGI details a comprehensive maintenance procedure for a specific void space, including commercial blast cleaning, visual inspection, and structural repairs. Key tasks include welding and repairing up to one linear foot of deteriorated welds, base metal weld buildup of 60 square inches, removing and replacing 10 square feet of deteriorated plate, and installing new stiffeners.

The work is part of a larger ship repair and maintenance project scheduled from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2027. The instruction includes specific requirements for surface preparation, coating, and nondestructive testing, with particular attention to fire zone boundaries and potential lead hazards. The document is marked FOUO (For Official Use Only) and is part of a broader naval ship repair contract at the Fleet Activities Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, involving multiple Task Group Instructions for comprehensive ship maintenance and overhaul.
